Yep, I saw this earlier today. Too bad I've already been using an unofficial user-made Vista patch for oh-- a month now. Glad SE and their crew of brain-damaged manatees finally got around to making their own though =|

Did they really need to release a patch? All you have to do is overwrite with a current updated POL folder and set to run in xp compatibility/run as admin...like...whopteedoooo

lol for a sec i misread the topic and thought SE relased a window'd version that only work in vista x.x woulda made me upgrade heh. guess i'll stay with xp for now.

I did an upgrade install of Vista and I didn't need to do anything other than run windower program in compatibility mode and it worked fine. Doesn't even break the glass.

Because they're trying to install FFXI from scratch on a clean Vista installation, and the POL client from the install disks doesn't work under Vista until you update it, and you can't update it because it doesn't work. Geddit?

Chill. The compatibility mode/run as admin change worked perfectly for me and a lot of other people. If this still works with windower then I'll upgrade, but I'm guessing all they did was make all the manual changes we made automatic instead.

I'm "chilled." I just can't stand the "it worked for me, so everyone else that complained about it not working doesn't know what they're talking about" attitude. And yes, I "get" that it worked for many people. I also don't completely dismiss the possibility that it may not have worked perfectly for everyone on the entire planet.

iam running vista unltimate x64 with FFXI and it works fine and always has

i got vista day it came out been running FFXI on it just fine

as for vista it self ive had no probs with it.runs fast and smooth on my comp

ive run into my first prob with a game yesterday installed fear and extraction point on it and extraction point plays slow as hell gettin 44% under 25 and 56% 25-40 FPS in the test menu where in fear test menu i get 100% over 40 FPS min 60 av5rage 157 max 244 while its set to high extraction point i had it set to med for the test and thats the shit i got
