Diablo II Ladder Reset Today

I remember when they initated the very first ladder season after patch 1.10. I have a screenshot on my old pc of my sorceress ranked around the top 20 a few hours after it went live. Not impressive, but something neat to have. She was a fire sorce and leveled super fast until I hit fire immunes near the end of nightmare, and couldn't solo 75% of Act I Hell with all the fire immunes lol. I had somewhere around 9k fireballs and ~15-20k meteors with all the synergies and pretty decent gear. About the only thing she excelled at was running hell mephisto; baal, while do able, took a lot of deaths and mercenary action to win.

I'd love to start Diablo II again, but I haven't played it since they made the skill tree into a synergy thing so I would have no idea what to do.

I have the same feeling, every time i want to re-install it and play, i remember how gay it is now with the new patches.

If i play it again, it'd be single player, which is kinda gay itself. I'll just have to wait for diablo III *crosses fingers*

I loved Diablo II, played that more than any game I've ever played. A Diablo III would be sweet as hell if they would make it.

Open B.net uses your singleplayer save files, wich is why it's so hacked...

Closed B.Net is hacked to death too, or at least was when I played. People running around with "ITH" weapons and Occulus rings, and tons of duped 40ED/15 IAS jewels, runes, and charms. It got so bad that the hacked items and duped jewels became a new form of currency over the SOJs. Unless you found the high end items that are sought after for PvP yourself, they were most likely duped.

I remember that, I played again recently, and it isn't that way anymore.

There still is a few, but the duped/hacked gear was almost non-existant.

Blizzard will announce Diablo 3 in due time, can guarantee you it's been in the works for over a year. It's the unannounced title blizzard had hinted at several months ago. Whether or not Diablo 3 will be a MMO successor to WoW is a different story.

May as well be the same thing since once the 1.10 patch rolled around, all the Ith and Occy Ring ladder crap just got dumped there while ladders started fresh with their potential "ladder only" gear.

I'm not silly enough to rule out hacking or duping in the closed ladder, as many admit to map hack and such during Baal runs, but depending on how Blizz monitors exploits, I would imagine clean starts are more and more less likely to contaminated by ill-gotten loot as each new season progresses.

I guess maybe the only real gripe is there's no regularity to the resets. Why not every 3 months, 6 months, or once a year? If I'm not mistaken, this currently reset season went on for well over a year and a half.

I'm not racing crazy hard (work/school take up too much time).. still on normal difficulty, but it's been a bit of a refreshing break so far.
