    Ram and Processor

So i'm sure all of you know about my shitty FFXi problem that no one can seem to fix. Throwing out new suggestions though. If your ram is really old, say 2001; and your processor is say 06-07 ish. Could that lead to a performance issue? My ram is like 2x 512 sticks of pc2700 ram. Thinking about upgrading to the corsair ddr2 pc5300 since that's the highest my motherboard will support. Would that play a roll in helping FFXI run better? The texture models lag my processor like a bitch. Realized everytime i start up FFXi there's a short pause for about half a second and then everything starts to run fine until the mobs start appearing. FPS drops to below 10 and i `terminate.

    Re: Ram and Processor

yes it could be part of the issue, and yes upgrading to fast DDR2 will improve it.

most textures are handled by your CPU/Ram and not your videocard in FFXI - so if you have a bottleneck there, you'll see performance issues.
