Ok so backstory, i messed around with ubuntu for a bit but decided against it (no actual need to run linux). I formatted the drive it was on but the grub loader stayed, and i tried to use the recovery console to get rid of it but nothing worked. I have 3 harddrives (1 is new, 2 are from an old pc), so if i set it to boot from the new HDD it will boot up to windows fine. I also have vista installed on the new hard drive so it goes to the vista boot first (vista or older windows).
Now the problem i have occurs in XP. When i try to hibernate my pc, it works once fine, but if i do it again, my bios stops detecting all my hard drives and gives me a boot read error. The only solution i've found for that is to reset the CMOS which is getting quite irritating. The vista Sleepirnate combo thing works fine, giving me no trouble at all. Does this have anything to do with the grub loader? I've tried unplugging the HDD that booted to it and i still got the same error. So this is sort of a 2 part question.
1) Removing the grub loader ;_;, i've tried fdisk /mbr, fixmbr, and fixboot in the recovery console on all the partitions in my system. This isn't a big issue though since i can just set my first boot drive to my new hard drive.
2) wtf is going on with xp hibernate/standby? They both give the same issue, and it seems its corrupting my cmos or something of the sort. Should i reinstall XP?
