    But my problem is all the pc in my house keep losing connection. Even the pc hooked up to the router thru a cord. So I was wondering if you need to have a Pc hooked up to the router to work ^^;

    No, you dont need to have a computer directly connected to the router (that is: with a cable) for the router to make the connection to internet via the DSL or whatever modem.

    If you keep getting disconnected it might be some bad configuration in your router, your Computer(s) Addresses, or weak wireless signal.

    when setting it up for the first time you need a cable, after that when you have your WPA setup and all you wont need any PC's connected to it, the modem yes..., but PCs no.

    if it linksys, i can give you a general idea

    from what i understand on your issue, we can try to fix the router settings

    this is the basic step, you need to have direct connection from your pc to router using ethernet cord.
    1. open IE > type 192.168.1.1 in address box. (username: (blank) password: admin, these are default number/password)
    2. go to wireless tab > sub tab - basic wireless setting > try change channel 1, 9 or 11 ( i would recommend 9)

    if its still not working, you may try to upgrade the firmware (need to know what is your router's model number and its version).
    you can also check if there is any devices that put near the router, cos it may also interfere the wireless signal.

    hope this help.
