Worth buying Xbox 360 for Halo3?

I've never owned an Xbox or Xbox 360, I loved playing Halo at friends houses, though I never played Halo 2.

I probably wouldn't be so hesitant about buying a 360 if I could somehow guarantee i'd have one of the newer models with the smaller 65nm CPUs that don't red ring (atleast not at 33% rate). Is it at the point where I can get one of these reliably?

Yes it's worth it. Plus the 360 has many other good games out, not just Halo..

It's definitely worth owning a 360 for about a hundred different reasons... Halo 3 being one of them.

There are even more kick ass games coming out for the console fairly soon and LIVE Arcade is awesome.

The post was more about how to get a hold of a new version 360 so I don't have to have my Xbox in the shop 3 months out of every year Halo3 is just the first game that is making me actually want to find one.

Even if you aren't interested in FPS, Live Arcade has/will have stuff like Ikaruga that you can't really find anywhere else anymore.

It's the equivalent of the Wii's Virtual Console... you can download old/new "arcade" type games (they have sonic 1/2, TMNT from '89, and about a million other games like that there.)

You obviously have to pay for them... you just download them to your hard drive and play them whenever... they go anywhere from 4-10 dollars I believe.

And you can play them online (bomberman). And they're thinking about putting Radiant Silvergun on it, which is currently JP onry (and lolSegaSaturn).

anyone have Blue Dragon and think its worth it? i played the Demo and thought it was pretty sweet, and waht about that other RPG Eternal Sonata?

Summary:
Blue Dragon has an interesting battle system and stuff like that, but the plot is slow for the first disc and pretty predictable. Most of the Eternal Sonota thread is people giving first impressions and explaining the battle system and stuff. One guy really liked it, and the newgame+ thing is apparently like Crono Trigger. The PS3 version might have extra stuff.

Blue Dragon has a slow start, but I hear it picks up on disc 2.
