Besieged vs Campaign

Anyone else been in a position where they had a choice between the two, and found themselves teleporting around the past racking up 2, 3, 5k or more Exp while the Beastman armies were still attacking Al Zahbi in the present?

Myself, I was one that actually enjoyed Besieged, all the temp items, the chaos, the whole fighting for your sanction bonuses. It was pretty fun even though laggy, and hell, killing charmed players in there is still one of the most fun things to do.

Now though, being able to get a few friends together, hop around from place to place, get many times the exp/limits you'd get in the same duration as a Besieged. Have random forces, and from very little, to far less lag than even the best Besiegeds... I just don't care too much about showing to fight off the Troll assault anymore.

How long til we see Besieged get rolled back, or the rewards buffed significantly? Since even when Campaign is broken and glitchy, you can still get a good deal more exp/limits, AN are new and likely will be quite profitable to have a few when certain things become available, and hell, it's just more fun.

Yes, this applies to WoTG, but also AU specifically.

I had a couple friends tell me that AZ had 250 people and Trolls were marching, I thought about running out there, but then I noticed Sauromugue's Yagudo were being attacked, and attacking Beastman forts is good fun, and good exp/AN.

I was just saying the same thing somewhere else a second ago. The AC has been gone for longer than I can remember it being gone at a time on bahamut (past a full day now) without anyone seemingly trying to get it back. I looked up what it would take to get it out of mamook, and honestly I can't blame anyone for not wanting to go through the trouble of getting it back. I feel they either need to nerf besieged some or boost the rewards from it to keep people doing it.

Agreed as well. I loved Besieged, it was my favorite thing to do on the game, but Campaign (especially with the shorter wait time between music and attack) has all of the good stuff and little of the bad -- with many many many times the reward.

Candysense, who needs it! The people who want to merit 24/7 can start defending it themselves!

I like both... but I'm not in love with either.

I do agree that the spontaneous aspect of Campaign makes it a little easier to join, but for me both tend to be things that I do when they are available & I'm not involved with anything else... both conditions need to be true.

Campaign is great for buffering XP on THF after pulling Dynamis though, so it's nice that I can make a concerted effort to do it for awhile if I can't grab a party for buffer.

After three days solid of doing NOTHING but Campaign (ninja-dinging into Shura head on my SAM was deeeelicious.. felt so good, and so dirty!), I heeded my BF's pleas to come defend.. some.. city or whatever.. in the present. The contrast is actually pretty nice. Besieged still has that epic feel, and Giant's Drinks and Megalixers still rock my Casbah.

But it has nothing on that amazing wordless comaraderie that sprouts up in Campaign where people actually support tanks, help pull, heal people.. raise them after the battle's over. I heart Campaign, and I will be writing my Congressman to protest the fact that its not on a near-constant basis anymore.

When it comes time to choose, I'm definitely choosing Campaign.

I knew this was going to happen the day Besieged was introduced. I've been preaching scaling waves by the number of people in Al Zahbi since. It would be the best solution.

They really need to stop Besieged though. I don't see how we're supposed to keep so many fronts under control all at once. Not to mention the WotG isn't even all the way complete yet. The main areas like the beastmen strongholds and the Shadowlord's kingdom aren't even there yet so I can only imagine how hard it will be then.

Not really a comparison there. Besieged is a big fat laggy mess, and Campaign is typically almost lag free, or if there's a lot of people + NPCs somewhat laggy. Nowhere near the level of Beseiged lag. The fights are more interesting, more varied enemies, most of the time isn't vs. mobs that take 10 minutes to kill 1, and the battle is over in a timely fashion. Then it's off to scout new areas for a fresh battle. When they go back to campaign battles happening more frequently instead of the lame change they made yesterday it will get back to being one of the most fun activities in the game for me. Well, until the novelty wears anyway.

At this very moment? It would be besieged hands down. At least with besieged I know I will get to participate where as with campaign I will war in as it's ending which happens about 90% of the time. Now I'm sure this will get fixed and campaign will be much more fun, besieged will still be a good place to skill up without having to leave town.

Campaign before they made it gay wins hands down. Now Besieged is probably better, which says alot about campaign because we just recovered AC so it'll be a while before it gets worthwhile. Spamming /cmap for 10 minutes then going out to get 100 xp isn't too fun.

I had a freaking blast doing a Sauromugue assault on the Yagudo camp.

Moo Ouzi was around, with his cool headdress, fun mobs, and being able to go nuts on War/Drg without healers bitching at me always rocks.

Meri Mountains is nasty as shit though, get the feeling a more coordinated group is needed out there, sweepspamming, random gangbang, fleeing around murdering people, bastard ass Yagudos.

Besieged is a laggy orgy of festering bullshit. I hate zoning in, then being Mijin'd from a mob that I can't even see. Or being charmed and stripped of my armor from another mob that I don't even see at the time. Good stuff ><

Campaign is fun, but would be a lot better is the battles lasted longer than 15 seconds.
