    Fatigue when farming.

Has SE implemented farming (killing mobs) for items fatigue code? Since I have been gone for a year I have been farming a lot to replenish my gil, and it seems that if i stay in an area for a long time that the drop rate on the items I am farming decreases. I don't actively farm for a long time, but I haven't been logging off lately because when I do POL has been down a few times and I haven't been able to get back online. Hence, my character tends to stay online in a zone for 12+ hours eventhough I am only actively online 3-4 hours of that time. Specifically, I am farming on my bst for wisteria lumber and tree cutting in the Boyada Tree. I know that drops are random, but I just wanted to make sure that something hadn't changed while i was not playing FFXI.

I tried to do a search for fatigue and just found comments about fishing and chocobo stuff, so if this has been covered in another topic plz give me linky if you know it.

Unless I just missed something huge, there is no fatigue for item drop rate off of enemies. There is a fatigue system for fishing (can't fish up more than 200 fish or something like that in a day) and for Chocobo digging (100 items or something like that a day). However there is no fatigue on enemy drops.

I seem to recall an update awhile ago (maybe 2004?) where they decreased the drop rate of items the longer you are in a zone. I don't know if this was just NMs or what. I can't cite it either, so maybe I'm wrong.

This is correct, but I think it was in early 2005 or mid 2005. People started logging out or zoning to replenish their farming stamina (lol).

I think they had it in update details, but I don't know where to pull it up from.

A part of me wants to say there isn't one, unless someone can find that update they are talking about. I farm alot, and when I need to afk, I just let my char(s) sit there in the zone. Then come back, and farm again. Don't really notice any changes in drops. Sometimes I get even MORE after I come back from AFK. Maybe the items replenish after some time passes that mobs aren't killed?

Unless someone can provide a linky where they stated it I won't believe it. Even if it was true, my ls got back to back diorite after like 5hrs or something so a big lol to loggin off for replenishing farming stamina.

I thought this was only for digging, mining, fishing. I don't recall an update where they changed drops after a certain amount of time in the zone.

Doesn't BT have some slight -TH? Or if you have a pet you get some -TH or something?
    Also, try subbing THF. ^____^;

If I remember correctly, the update from 04/05 was when farming multiple mobs at once. Things like going into a zone, agroing 30 mobs, then killing them all with -ga spells and aoe weapon skills.

    Re: Fatigue when farming.

I'm not sure about time in zone affecting drops, but getting extremely fast kills like via aoe will definitely kill your drop rate. For example, if I kill leaping lizzys place holders in south gustaberg one at a time on a 75 job, I will get a lizard tail like 60-70% of the kills. While if I train them together and kill via aoe, the drop rate on tails is close to 0%.

Pets getting kill does seem to have a very bad effect on drop rate, for both bst and drg, same as mob falling to ground from DoT, not sure why this is...

And it was anti-train farming too, wasn't it? So if you kill 75941370170 mobs at once time you'll get fewer drops than if you killed them one by one?

Long time ago, 2005 sounds right.

    Re: Fatigue when farming.

I know anti-train farming is a fact, I'm not sure about regular farming fatigue. From personal experience, I'd believe it, I've actually noticed this on my own before anyone pointed it out to me. Farming leeches in Pashhow, the blood drop rate seems to fall horribly after about an hour. That could just be bad luck, though, and if something like that is in place the workaround would never be as simple as logging out/back in or zoning. SE's dumb, but they aren't that dumb I hope

i'd always figured it was somewhat like choco digging, wherein a mob or a group of mobs perhaps has a pool of drops. every time a mob is killed, it makes a roll to see if you get something from it or not. the more in the pool, the higher your odds of coming away with it. since you can empty the pool faster than it restocks, a zone can effectively run out of drops. i've seen similar behavior in fishing and choco digging this system is known to be applicable to, so knowing developer's desire to recycle previous systems, this may make some sense. this is pure theory based on what i've seen, and it's but 1 model that could explain it. i can provide no evidence to support my model beyond circumstantial evidence, so again, take my theory with a grain of salt.

except thats how it works with things like hate from a monster. If you are at capped hate zone or log and you are hate free. I am pretty sure IF there is farming fatigue that it'd work the same way.

I wonder if farming may have a particular "treasure pool" to get drops from like choco digging? and maybe bad drop rates are from someone else farming the zone dry.
