    Ogre Battle 64

currently playing it and loving it.

For those who have played, share your thoughts on it.

I'm liking the story a lot, it's much deeper than the meagre March of the Black Queen story on SNES, and it's very political, which is nice not to have another fucking pseudo-japanese love story.

I liked it. Found the first Ogre battle more enjoyable though tbh.

I loved the story in this game, so many twists and different possibilities depending on the choices you make. I also loved all the different characters you could pick up. My only complaint is that unless you paid a lot of attention, it was easy to get your Chaos Frame stuck at 0, but your characters always ended up being Lawful by the end. I had to use the item glitch to make 100+ Chaos items, just so I could get some Archmages and Sirens. :\ Still, best RPG on the N64 hands down and one of my all-time favourites.

One of the best games I've ever played, it's probably even better than Final Fantasy Tactics, which is saying a lot from my point of view. ;o I suppose I'm not the only one who used the chaos glitch to get Black Knights as early as possible? They kicked so much ass, lol. So did Destin.

How well does this emulate? I don't feel like digging it out for the N64, and I remember emus used to have trouble with it

If you download the most recent version of Project 64, it runs the game almost perfectly. I believe the only real graphical problem is when you first talk in a town you haven't been to yet, the background will appear black but otherwise works fine.

It's the most addicting tactical RPG I have ever played.

Where can you get the most recent PJ64? 1.7 on the main site requires you to pay

I did some minor searches if I remember correctly and got a Project64 version which was free. I think it was emulatorzone.com or something, it had all the latest emulators for all the old systems. It was NOT the Project64 main site that's for sure.

The emulated version does not play very well at all in comparison to the hard copy.

I played the emulated version for about 25 hours, and then picked up a copy of it for the N64 on ebay for 28 bucks. Best 28 bucks I've spent in awhile.

I just finished last night, took me 86 hours in my first play through. And this is with a full walkthrough guide which I printed out at work from ign (400 pages)

The emu version often has a black background for combat, not to mention it runs glitchy and slow(animation-wise) and the sound is terribly fucked. The framerate runs at 60 fps for awhile then suddenly drops to 30-45 frames and the music stutters and lags. I'd mail you my hard copy of the game to borrow, but I'm wanting to play through it again.

I'm going through again, going the low alignment route this time. I dumped alot of my cash at the last couple levels for some serious training on Magnus' unit, I had him and Ankiseth a Priest and a flarebass Dragon all at level 45 lol. Managed to kill the last boss in a single round of combat.

took me 1956 game days and I had a Chaos Frame of 79, so I qualified for the "best" ending.

I'd sacrifice a small child for a next-gen version of this game. One of the only RPG's for the N64, but a really great game.

I like it more than Final Fantasy Tactics as well, and FFT was alot of fun. They're both very similar games, I recommend this to any FFT fan.

I didn't know P64 required you to pay now. I downloaded v1.6 back when it was free from their main site and it ran the game perfectly fine. You might be able to find a hacked version, but you need at least v1.6+ for the game to run smoothly.

Just as a heads up, I was running v1.3 for a long long time and it couldn't play Ogre 64 at all. There's a huge difference between the updates

I played through OB64 a few times, I played it though for all three endings, and loved every minute of it. I still drag out the N64 from time to time and play it for the hell of it awesome game, awesome story. My personal favorite N64 game.

Played it through once, got stuck with all lawful characters because you have to be aware of that before your entire army goes in one direction so I got the worst ending, started on another playthrough, this time keeping track of alignment very strictly, got bored eventually.

It's a cool game, but I definitely enjoyed the original one better.

It emulates pretty well with PJ64 1.6 and the RICE plugin, no black battle screens or anything stupid like that

Who currently owns the Ogre Battle IP, Atlus?

Was always hoping for a Wii VC release of this, would be the best $10 I've ever spent.
(could never find the bloody game back in the days, had to resort to renting it -.-)
