    macroing haste gears

    1. I often heard people say they macro in haste gears for timers on nin, especially while soloing so that they can where evasion gear full time while getting the added benefits of haste on there recast timers. Is this true?

If so: Let’s say I’m wearing my O-hat and I want to macro in my turban for Ni. In my macro line do I equip turban for the entire duration of the spell cast and then macro o-hat back on or can I quip turban, start casting Ni/Ichi/whatever and put my o-hat back on before casting is complete to get the reduction in my timer?

    2. Along the same lines as above when subbing in Ninjutsu gear to help stick Hojo or increase elemental spell damage/accuracy, do I need to macro in the piece for the duration of the spell, just the beginning, or just the end?

Thanks much in advance for your time and insight!

Haste is only considered at the completion of a cast so you can't just put it on then immediately take it off before the spell finishes casting.

Make sure you've macroed in your Fast Cast gear before commencing the spellcasting to lower the casting time and keep both Haste and Fast Cast gear on until the spell goes off to shrink the recast timer.

Haste does not quicken the casting process so, theorically and depending on lag, you could leave Ohat on til Utsu bar is about to reach its peak.

Unless I'm mistaken and the Haste'ish after-effect attached to Fast Cast enhancing items takes effect immediately lol. Either way keeping the gear on til the spellcasting has finished shouldn't be that problematic (I'm curious now though).

    Re: macroing haste gears

I’m basically asking in regards to Ninjutsu types of spells. Maybe that helps simplify my question.

So if I’m getting this right:

I could have absolutely zero haste gear on while meleeing (this isn’t the case but humor me) and then I could macro in several different pieces of haste gear, (i.e. turban, fumas, swift, dusk) and as long as they’re kept on for the duration of the cast time I would have the same recast time for that said spell as if I had been wearing the haste gear full time?

Thanks again for the responses, sorry for possibly beating a dead horse.

Yes, that would work. There are benefits to wearing haste gear while you're attacking as well though.

Er, just to be clear, because you seem to be implying differently:

Haste - you don't have to have it on for full duration, just at the end when it goes off. It calculates the % shaven off of your recast time then. So you can start casting, and right before you hit the cast animation throw everything on, and it would work the same way as if you had it on before you started casting and left it on throughout. In other words, the duration of the cast has nothing to do with it.

Fastcast - you need to have it on before you start casting to get the decreased casting time. In addition, you need it on before it goes off to get the recast time deduction. So I think you could start casting, then take it off, but put it back on before the end for the full effect. Not sure why you'd want to though. Again, nothing to do with "duration of the cast," just need it on at the beginning for one part of fastcast, and the end for the other part.

    I think.

    Re: macroing haste gears

It only works for the end of the spell for haste = timers and + skill for your enfeebs/nukes ect. I do this on my thf and nin. Mainly thf though. I normally only use nin for merit pts and all my haste gear is on my TP gear set. Even though I do have a eva set for my nin. My thf however I have haste gear in my shadow macros since its less haste gear then my nin and I can fit it all in my macro with recast timers of ni and ichi in each macro. My thf in full eva gear has something like 305 eva skill with +65 eva. Would have to check for exsact numbers. But it helps alot on higher lvl nms. For one I have duod things like ancient goobue and fenrir more then a few times without much trouble.
