VP Lenneth or Disgaea for PSP

which one and why? i've never played VP on PS1, but im really craving an sRPG that isnt FFT (cause ive already played the shit out of that), and im really attracted to disgaea cause of its depth and the fact you can level to 9999. but everyone i talk to say VP is the best game for PS1 or PSP, hands down.

Id personally say Disgaea. I played VP and although it was fun I think Disgaea will last you longer.

Jeanne d'Arc - Great story, fun SRPG, but very very little replayability
Disgaea - Weak story, but can go on forever. Only thing that kinda annoys me is that Disgaea is just a grind grind grind GETSUPERPOWERFUL game, you just work on maxing your stats and there isn't really much strategy involved <.< I still like it though lol

VP.. sadly I haven't played through all of 1 so I can't comment on that.

Disgaea has a shitton of content. Level 9999 + you can level items = you can play this for a very very very (etc) long time.

I got VP1 for PSP a long time ago but haven't played through it, I feel bad about it since everyone says it's such a good game.

Such an underated game, really.

And screw easy&normal, play at hard. It's actualy easier. (as weird as it sounds), and you get more content.

great story, great gameplay.
Replay value depends if you get the A ending first try or not.
If you dont look at any walkthroughs when playing, you'll most likely get the B ending on your first runthrough. After when you go for the A ending, there's more stuff.
Also, seraphic gate bonus dungeon at the end.

After 80 hour of gameplay, the only fun left in the game really, is find new challenges.
Killing the Iseria Queen with just 2 character wasn't even hard.

I would say VP:L, mostly because you can probably find a copy of Disgaea 1 for PS2 still. Assuming you have a PS2.

Of course, you could always play VP1 on a PSX emulator, if you like screwing around with sound plugins and settings and stuff.

Disgaea, since the developer actually went ahead and ADDED content to the game and making it run better than the original, rather than the opposite SquareEnix did for Valkyrie Profile on the PSP....
(looking forward to playing Etna mode, even though it's a larger grind-fest)

What did Square remove? the Anime cutscenes they replaced with CGI? The game runs better on PSP then it did on PS1.

I'd honestly say the game stayed the same o.o

They ported the PSP version from the original JP version, which means some of the censorship from the American PSX release is also in the American PSP one, but some of it isn't. I think Badrach's cigarette is still missing, but Lezard's teleport animation has a penagram again. Also, there was some minor issue with buttons on the menu interaction that was improved for the American PSX version, but isn't improved on the PSP, and there's a freeze that only occurs when Valkyrie is solo and a boss uses great magic which might have been introduced in the American version. Also, the trick to force the RNG to generate all the chests in each cave of oblivion is different. (details on GameFAQs)

I was talking from a pure noticeable game content. I mean something more then 1% of the population would notice (I knew about those as I am a VP fanatic... still waiting on my fucking expensive figure/setup I bought.. was 500+ yay!)

It's not that bad. But, this slowdown existed in the origonal release also ( I own around 7 copies of this game, 3 unopened Japanese release (Orig, Best of & PSP) and 4 US (Origonal (Opened), Origonal (Unopened), PSP (Opened), PSP (UnOpened).

Hey guys, I got a question about disgaea and I didn't want to make a new thread. I hope someone would see it here.

When I unlock different levels of the same class (ie: monk > pugilist), should I go buy a pugilist and start leveling that guy, keep leveling the monk, or level both? Also, when should I transmigrate?

I usually just kept my guys, if you're just unlocking them, you're probably still fairly low level and it might not hurt to make a new, higher class character (if you don't mind leveling them). Transmigrating well... whenever you feel like it really. As far as I know there is really no "best" level to do it at (except 9999) but I would try to get enough mana to transmigrate with a fairly high rate of retaining stats/masteries.

Personally I got most of my characters up to ~50 so that most or all of the levels of the class were open, and transmigrated after that.
