1st thing I did was raid the AH for gobbie bag items for myself and my friends. Thank god I did. I got Adaman Ignots for like 35-40k and they're at 200k now.

That was the first thing I *tried* to do after logging in. I logged in about 5m after server up. Someone had already gotten to the items, bought them all, and repriced them 5x higher.

To tell you the truth, unless people stockpiled the stones its gonna be a loss for most crafters. The average tier3 hq on the stones is 1/22 if i remember correctly from a post, and if said crafter buys all the rocks from the guild (7k a pop, 1 rock refreshs per day)... you can do the math but the crafters seem to have got cheated from certain people who seem to know what was coming; e.g. look at deathstones on a few servers, its the same person selling 90% of them.

I wouldn't doubt it. This kind of thing has plagued MORPGs since they were MUDs without a GUI. I've seen the effects of obvious GM & Dev corruption in every single online game I've ever played. I personally witnessed it directly in EQ. It happened again in VG nearly to the destruction of the economy there and probably was a minor factor in their launch failure.

I mean, what would you think about an obscure quest in FFXI that yields an 8m gil vendorable item and is repeatable? Would you think the devs just made a typo on the items value? Ooops, my finger got stuck on the zero key! Eh. They left that in game for a week after it had become common knowledge, too then "corrected an inappropriate value on a quest reward."

Judging from the overall economy, the level of developer and GM cheating going on in FFXI is on much smaller than other games. As annoying as the economy is here, it's still pretty nice by comparison.

Pfft. I tried to get Angelstones and Deathstones at 5:05 when I logged in, but there was only one of either to start with, so I got exactly 0. I'll farm lynx hides and whatever else of the shit drops once the expansion goes live and make a small fortune...I don't reallly give a shit if I get 70/70 this week or not.

P.S. People, buy Salmon Sushi (if you're on Hades). God only knows what it actually does, but I'm sure it's fucking awesome.
