Laggy frames fixed via latest SE Update (THANKS DEVS!)

For the current (11/20) update lagfest problem, here's a solution.

NO LONGER NEEDED AS OF 11/21, THANK GAWD.

Doing this so people don't pick through 14 pages and/or multiple topics to get around the bug that's eating a lot of player's framerates.

This is what this fix will do: You should have basic KB and mouse functions, and the super frame lag will go away. This will NOT fix USB gamepad problems, but you can try disabling everything else and see if it helps (as the USB interface is causing the problem, apparently). As with any other modification, do a system restore point beforehand and/or reboot in safe mode if this causes problems with your system. Nor will this amend any earlier graphics card frame-fuckups- only the problem currently at hand as of this client update. You will lose extra mouse button and fancy keyboard options, but basic inputs should work fine.

Selectively disabling HID's can improve framerate to varying degrees. If you really can't do without one, try some rather than all.

Found this over at a FEAR forum. I went in and disabled the so called HID-compliant devices but mine had different id's then the one shown in the quote. My FPS shot right back up to normal and I can still use my wireless keyboard and mouse. Hope this helps someone. Razz

    Quote:
You get a BIG drop in performance because you have one of these
device in any games that uses FEAR engine :
    - G5 Mouse ?
    - G7 Mouse ?
    - G15 Keyboard ?

Here is the solution for you :

    Go in "Device Manager"
    Expand "Human Interface Devices"

    Disable all "HID-compliant device"
where Hardware Ids begin by :

    "HID\Vid_046d&Pid_c041&..."

How will you know the Hardware Ids ?

    - Right click on the device and select "Properties"
    - Switch to Details Tab
    - Select Hardware Ids Property in the drop-down list

    Enjoy!

I consider this should be a sticky

By the way your mouse will continue to work correctly

Sweet mother of God. If I could have your children, I would.

Still somewhat laggy, but it's a huge improvement, hurray!

Pic I made up for my LS forums showing what to disable and what to leave:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...tok/lolusb.jpg

This disables the G-keys, multimedia keys and LCD control keys on my G15, but it works fine as a basic keyboard.

I realize I'm being a picky cunt, but this shouldn't be called a "fix" --temporary solution is more accurate. I don't like even slightly giving devs the impression that this shit doesn't need to be fixed before ANYTHING else in the game.

Bleh, the G-keys are what the G15 is good for (and what I use to play with)! =(

With HIDs disabled I only get 10-11 FPS in mog house.

Now just need someone to tell me how you can force FFXI back to normal priority or higher and I'll be happy. Nothing I've tried works.

Never noticed this before but it seems our enhanced keyboards/mice are actually multiple devices rolled into 1. FFXI has issues with the extra HID input devices rather than your actual keyboard/mouse.

    Solution worked for LX710.

i disabled them my frame rate shot right up where it's used to be (29 in mog house) i called my friend and told him to do the same, he now swears it's even better than pre-update, (27-29 in white gate right infront of the moghouse/22-24 @ AH)

    THANK YOU FOR THIS tempFIX!

Only thing is some keyboards absolutely requires the USB extra power and just refuses to work under PS/2. So this is necessary.

Or there are those of us who don't have a PS/2 port on their machine. Also, spending money, even trivial amounts, to work around a mistake from SE which will hopefully be fixed in a couple of days is pretty unnecessary in itself when you can just do this instead.

And, you know, for those of us that don't live in 1991 and have no PS/2 ports on their mobos and therefor own no PS/2 devices.
