    Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight

Ran across the trailer for the direct-to-DVD movie releasing on Jan 15th.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHrOfJ8_D0o

Did the makers of the movie know it's not 1985 anymore?

Wow, That looks absolutely shitty. It reminds me of the animated version of "The Hobbit", only about 20 years too late.

Edit: Watched again to get the laughing out of my system.

Man...such a weird and unnecessary hybrid of animation styles...it's like an X-men cartoon, and then occasionally - LOOK WE HAVE COMPUTERS AND THEY SUCK!

    So random that's being made.

Was looking forward to this so much.. then I saw the animation and cried. These were supposed to be akin to what LoTR and Chornicles of Narnia were for their series, but they're going to be complete shit.

At least its a straight-to-DVD release...

I knew it was a bad idea when they announced it. I love Dragon lance, but fuck it, I'm not ready for 2 hours of awkward animation. Beside, if they wanted to make a movie with Margaret Weis' works, they should have picked Death Gate Cycle or Star of the Guardian. Those 2 short series were so awesome.

honestly, thats no excuse, there is significant quality in a lot of direct to dvd animation thats going on, especially with marvel and DC stuff nowadays, there is no excuse for that shittastic quality.

Looks like they just reused a bunch of animation from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfif5DiGMYc

This is about as bad as American cartoons get. You can't possibly sink lower than this.

Goddamnit, these books were easily my favorite books to read as a kid. I was so pissed when Paladine had to step down but now this is just completely unforgiveable. That is complete crap.

They funny thing is that they were so proud of the trailer that they showed it at GenCon this year. And the authors gave it their stamp of approval because they are making cameos according to wikipedia
Both Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis (original authors of the novels) will make a cameo appearance as patrons of the Inn of the Last Home in the movie.

I should have said 'contemporary' American cartoons. Almost everything produced for TV between 1970 to today is rubbish with low standards of voice acting, character design and storytelling. The bar is higher, however, when you try to finagle 20-30 bucks for a DVD from someone in 2007-2008. Even 'Frosty the Snowman' is better animated than this tripe.
