Another Video Card Problem Thread @_@

So, recently my old Radeon 9600 XT 128M (about 5-6 years old) pretty much gave up on me. It wouldn't let me play FFXI for more than about an hour before glitching out the screen and making the computer inoperable. So I invested in a new card, a Radeon 9250 256 MB. But I installed it and it runs worse than my old (fried even) card. It's not REAL noticeable, but little things like spinning the camera around or running is a bit choppier than I'm used to. Now I'm not the smartest computer guy, but shouldn't this new video card be running more smoothly than my old fried one? Is there anything I can do to enhance the video card's performance, perhaps something I neglected to do when I installed it?

Video cards are fucking retarded. I've had to resort to 3rd party drivers for my gf's x1950pro.

I have a 9250 and it is trash, it is basically a 8500 but DX9 "compatible." The 9600XT is miles ahead of it in terms of gaming. The core runs at like 240mhz and the memory is at like 400mhz or something retarded, a lot slower then the 9600XT. Pixel/Vertex shaders 1.4, my 9250 runs Doom 3 @640x480 around like 20fps (it maxes in small areas) on Medium. lol I mean it isn't bad, I can play a lot of games with it but it plays them slow.

I say return it, I assume you payed around $40? If so just pick up like a x1650, it comes in AGP which I assume you got the 9250 for.
