Strange/Random phone calls.

Ever had this happen to you?

Some man with a deep mexican accent has been calling my cell phone every morning at 8AM for the past week. He left several voice messages asking something about measurements for some dress. (W T F)

I've told him to stop calling yet he denies the fact that he ever called. Creepy bastard...

So tell me... how have you dealed with this annoyance? D:

I love wrong numbers where they try to argue with you, that you are in fact the person that was in the wrong.

I got a phone call on my cell phone and the gentleman on the phone asked for someone who I didn't know, so I say what I always say "I'm sorry sir, I think you may have the wrong number." And it went downhill from there.
"No, this is my friend Joe's phone, its in my speed dial."
"What number did you dial"
says my number
"No sir, thats my number, I've had this number for about 2 years."
He proceeds to ask me why I have his friend's phone, if I know his friend or how I could get ahold of him. It easily ended up being about 15 minute conversation.

My old lan line number used to be similar to the local Council on Aging, that also lead to some interesting phone calls with disoriented old people.

On topic, when I got my new phone late last year, I ended up with a number which kept getting solicited by telemarketers who knew the previous owner, Lisa, by name. They usually hang up and stop calling when I tell them this is my new number, but there was this one woman who adamantly argued with me that I, indeed, was Lisa. The fact that I'm male and Lisa sounds pretty damn female didn't tip her off either, I ended up having to get my number changed cause she wouldn't stop calling...

I'm starting to think people develop some sort of sickness that causes them to call a number belonging to what they think is a friend, family member, etc...and they just can't get over the fact that it's not the correct number. So they call endlessly hoping to reach that person on the other side of the universe! ( I don't know where I'm going with this by the way.)

Honestly, I'd hate to change my number. It's been the same since I can remember, and I'd have way too many people to call to let them know. That's too much of a hassle to get rid of some delusional moron.

Isn't there a way to block the number through your phone company?

Changing my number wasn't a big deal to me since it was brand new anyway, it was like three weeks old.

Also, I think specific phones allow you to block numbers, I'm not sure whether you can do it through your carrier.

4 or 5 years ago some old woman used to call my cell asking for Johnny. I had told her about 10 times that she is calling the wrong number, but she'd call back 5mins after the first time, and again Id tell her she has the wrong number. After about a week of this some guy starts calling me asking for my union dues (I wasn't working at the time) and insists I pay them. He then gets angry when I tell him he has the wrong number because apparently whoever he thought I was said that to him a lot. After about another week of the two of them calling me I had my number changed.

I got my American phone in August. Clearly, my number used to belong to a druggie named Nick, because since then I've gotten a steady stream of calls and texts, all asking for Nick. A lot of them are at ungodly hours (I've been woken several times by drunken, loud calls asking for Nick at 3-4am in the morning in the middle of the week), and the reason I know he's a druggie is two voicemails - one from his job wondering why he hadn't showed up the past week, and one from a rehab center expressing concern that he'd missed his last two meetings.

I've been blocking numbers left and right, but the occasional text/call still comes in. >.< I've been considering asking Verizon for a different number, except my current number is SO f'in easy to remember. It's an awesome number.

A few years back, I got a series of hangups every day at 4pm, from a hidden number. The phone company wouldn't tell me who it was, and after about a month of daily 4pm hangups, I was getting sufficiently creeped out, and switched numbers.

When I first got my current cell phone, I'd constantly get calls for some woman who I can't recall the name of. I believe I had decided they were bill collectors.

When I got my number changed after I started getting calls about 10 times a day, I got calls and text messages for an Aaron. I then started replying to them telling them that if they see Aaron, to tell them to be a good friend and tell his friends his number!

And if Aaron ever sees this, dammit tell your friends your new number! I'm too lazy to change numbers again!

Happens at least once a week, same dude, same number, same maria.
