    SOYO 24" DYLM24D6 (P-MVA) $279

    Officemax.com states it's for in-store pickup only atm, though just yesterday they were available online

    They also list it as a discontinued item, so... just an FYI

    Just picked one up from my local Office Max, and OMG this thing is beautiful

    * 24" Widescreen SXGA TFT LCD Display
    * 1920 x 1200 Native Screen Resolution
    * 1000:1 Contrast Ratio
    * 6ms Response Time
    * 500 nits Brightness
    * 2 x 2 Watt Stereo Speakers
    * 170 degrees Horizontal, 160 degrees Vertical Viewing Angle
    * 40,000 Hour backlight lifespan (typical)
    * 15-pin mini D-sub VGA and DVI-D connections
    * AC 100-240 Volts, 60 / 50 Hz Voltage, 100 Watts (max) Power Consumption
    * 1-Year Limited warranty on LCD, parts and labor.
    SOYO S.A.F.E. Program
    it's a S-PVA screen, not TN btw (for you audio/video-philes, this should put a smile on your face)

    6ms Response Time

    Wouldn't that create a bluring effect on most games?

    Only if your response time was shitty and above 16ms. My monitor here runs 8ms and everything's smooth as butter.

    Anyways, sounds like a good deal, but I'm not touching a Soyo product with a 10ft pole after some past experience with their computer line of hardware.

    newer LCD's don't really ghost in games, that occured more with the older 12-16ms screens, even the 8ms new LCD's don't ghost from what my friends tell me who have them

    this one doesn't ghost much, no difference in ghosting from my other 19" samsung 940 BW's that i have on my floor behind me that i was using before :)

    edit: my 19" samsungs are 5ms btw

    it's a TN panel, being the cheapest screen type of all LCD screens

    the Soyo I posted is technologically superior (screen-wise) than this samsung, as it's an MVA screen (technically it's a P-MVA)

    TN film (Twisted Nematic)
    - low manufacturing/retail costs
    - restrictive viewing angles
    - fast pixel response times
    - dead pixels display white. Stuck pixels display RGB colors
    - lower contrast levels means blacks are not as dark as VA based panels
    - lower color reproduction
    MVA (Multidomain Vertical Alignment)
    - compromise between TN and IPS technologies
    - superior color reproduction over TN but not as good as IPS
    - very good viewing angles but less than IPS
    - higher contrast than TN or S-IPS means very good blacks
    - dead pixels are black
    - slower pixel response than TN or IPS
    - details can be lost when directly viewing dark areas

    Premium-MVA (P-MVA)
    - same as MVA except ...
    - "overdrive" technology increases pixel response but still slower than TN
    - may have slightly degraded color reproduction due to "overdrive" process
    so, they are slightly slower (haven't noticed a slower response from this and my TN-panel Samsung 940 BW, though), but have much better color representation (TN panels cannot display millions of colors, thus you'll see color banding in certain scenarios), and better blacks also

    edit: also, the 226BW isn't 1080p (1680x1050)

    this is a fucking great alternative btw

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824255001

    Westinghouse L2410NM
    1920x1200
    MVA screen
    8ms
    HDMI, Component, VGA, Composite inputs

    $410 after rebates

    I paid $279.99+29.99(1 year warranty)+tax: $332.38 for my Soyo (3 stuck pixels)

    part of me wants to return this and get the westinghouse, but i dunno.. even though I'd love to have all the inputs on the westinghouse, almost $100 USD more with shipping :/

    both are great screens though!

    Those are all pretty old Samsung monitors. The new 2493 we sell sports a 10000:1 CR. $429.

    The Soyo's have HUGE quality problems, and Officemax knows this, probably why it's discontinuing the screen.

    I'd go with a 22w2/226wb or a 2407WFP-HC.
