Stored Password Dissapeared

Ok this is something i have to ask but has anyone ever started up their Playonline on PC and found that their stored password has for some reason just dissapeared? Just to note that PoL hadnt crashed before i put my laptop into hibernation and my comp so far doesnt show any viruses. Also i only use firefox with iframes blocked on noscript. I know it might be just a silly question but with all the hackings goin on its better to ask. Also to note that my alt account with i hadnt logged onto today still had its password stored yet my mains password wasnt there.

i've heard of POL losing passwords on occasion, but with all the nasties running around, i'd do a manual check for all of the bad files before keying your login info into your PC.

No nasties on my system from what i can tell but its gone and lost passwords before for absolutely no reason o.O seems to happen when i restore the system from hibernation mebbe the datas gettin lost or somethin on restart >.<

POL loses my stuff rarely, but I've had it happen at least twice. Nearest I can figure is that its from unclean exits from POL.

If you're really scared about a keylog, you can type A-Z and 0-9 into notepad and copypasta each character of your login info and save the final result before hitting enter.

Wouldn't surprise me considering SE for some reason likes to keep everything in friggen' memory on PC and only writes settings back to the HD after a proper log, unlike its memory-limited lolPS2 counterpart.
(which is why it's always a good idea to log after making a large amount of macro changes...)

Anyways, my POL also forgot its password recently, although my PC was nice and clean. May have been triggered possibly by a couple random crashes I had once that were related to my network.

I wish they wouldn't store so much in memory before writing... its stupid. Consoles are as bad, I played on 360 for a while, and I'd lose weeks of screenshots cause I never logged to save them.

On a side note, switching macro sets will write the macros to your HD, as far as I know anyway.

It hasn't for me the odd occasion.

As far as I know, the entirety of macros is stored in memory (well, unsure if it does for the recently introduced macro books), as I've lost a couple sets in a row once....I know it doesn't on the PS2 as the bloody thing has to read the HD everytime you change palettes, which became a great hindrance for me on my RDM back when I did play on the damn thing....
(SE should just dump the virtual keyboard on the PS2 if they need the additional memory so bad)

Whenever I would load my windows paritition in vmware from another OS it would clear my POL password (I assume cause there's a hardware change).

I've had POL nuke my password on 4 different occasions after it crashed. It used to be a giant pain in the ass until one of the updates over the summer made it easier to re-save it.

i just recently (2 days) started playing on a laptop as i'm on the road. my POL password hasn't been saved at all despite my settings.

blessing in disguise as I probably don't want it saved on this laptop anyway, but whatever.

This happened to me recently. Someone replied to my post (turns out this was infact the case): The password is lost when you switch on and off between using and not using wireless. I'm not sure if this is the case for you though, but that seems to do it for me.

Keyloggers capture changes to the system clipboard, don't bother with the copypasta. If you have a trojan and you enter your password in any fashion, you're fucked.

So double-check and then if nothing comes up just accept there's nothing you can do about it and go on with your life.

Dynamic IP's will wipe the saved password option as well. I swapped from a wireless router (static IP) to regular cable (dynamic IP).

Lo and behold, POL (same machine, same FFXI install) no longer saves the password...even though the box is checked to do so.

That's not a general rule. I've had a dynamic IP forever and my pw usually saves np.
