    Stargate SG-1/Atlantis/Universe

I bet most of you don't even watch this show or will call me a nerd for watching it. But anyway if you've seen this episode you may understand why I think the writers deserve to be shot.

This episode wasn't originally the season finale exactly, they originally planned for a cliff hanger and had to change that, they should have fought to make this episode 2 hrs long imo. They could have made it so much better (course that goes for just about every episode in this season after episode 4).

These writers need to take a few writing courses on what it means to make something really dramatic. Not, oh hey we're dying, duh we already told you that long time ago lol, here's our stuff, okthxbye.

They should have ended the show when Richard Dean Anderson left it. That guy they got to replace him is terrible.

    I mean seriously terrible.

Like his acting skills are a parade of fail, with floats made out of lose and sad. And the giant balloons are not filled with helium like normal parade balloons, but instead filled with pathetic. And they are shaped like awful.

And the grand marshal of the parade is shame.

He was much better on Farscape where there were muppets who could distract from and carry his performance.

They took him off another Sci-fi original, Farscape. Took me awhile to figure it out since I've only ever watched like 3 episodes of Farscape since it sucked. It didn't really dawn on me until I saw him and his former co-star/current co-star Claudia Black (Vala) in the same shot together. Then I started to remember. And yes...yes it does suck...BIG!

    Yup :\

I used to watch the show every week until that happened... don't think I've even had a reason to watch the sci-fi channel since.

I tend to catch Dr. Who on Sci Fi, and reruns of John Doe on Friday nights. I miss that show.

Yeah, and my roommate likes to turn on Sci-Fi for the crappy movies on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Then she falls asleep so I have to listen to them... >_> Their movies really suck.

I've seen it, it's just as disappointing as Season 10 was.

I use to love that show. I've seen just about every episode up untill the last series, which I pretty much missed completly.

    Possible spoilers below.

I went to look for the finale anyway. The episode I found was one where they were stuck on an Asgard ship in some kind of time bubble with a deathray being fired at them from an Ori ship. They all got really old. That new general guy died of old age.

Was that really the show finale? It was an awful episode.

Yup.. that was the series ender. They were canceled mid-season, so they kind of scrambled I think.

I'll be interested to see the movie.. hopefully it's not disappointing.

Re: Stargate SG-1 Series finale Spoilers

I love the series, even after Richard Dean Anderson left. While the guys that replaced him and the actor who plays Hammond aren't nearly as good, I think they pull the role off well. It took them awhile to grow on me, but yes, I still was interested in the show after they left. As for the last episode, it wasn't meant to tie up everything, to my knowledge they were filming Season 10 when the Sci-Fi channel informed them they would not pick up an 11th season. Anyway, I thought the last episode was decently done and I thought the movie did a decent job of wrapping up the Auri story. Stargate is my favorite TV show of all time so... I guess I like it too much. I read that the end to season 8 where Anubis' fleet is destroyed was at one time meant to be the end to the show, but due to the popularity they extended it another 2 seasons. I thought they should have ended it there too, but I'm not complaining. There's no doubt I enjoyed the earlier seasons much more than seasons 9 and 10, but they were good enough for me never to turn it off. I hope some other channel ends up picking them up so they can film more (hopefully better) seasons.

I've been watching Atlantis too and while I ignored it at first I really enjoy it now. They've started bringing in cast from SG-1, and they fit in well. McKay is hilarious in almost every episode and Shepard is almost as good as O'niell was in the original series. I hope they keep going with it for awhile, it has a lot of potential to me but I don't know how's it been ratings-wise.

Honestly I thought this was a huge mistake when I first heard about it. Having them make cameo appearances is cool and there's nothing wrong with that. But when they announced Carter would become the new leader it just felt like they were desperately trying to keep the characters in. The fact that Carter isn't in every episode though helps, I would really hate every episode to have "Oh well SG-1 encountered something like this... etc."

And major spoiler for Season 5 of Atlantis:

Robert Picardo is the new leader of Atlantis, no I'm not joking.

Season 10s ending was a major disapointment, although the whole Ori introduction wasn't really all that well put together.

After Jack left, the show went downhill alot...

I thought the Ori were a reasonable enough enemy; I think the problem is they defeated them too quickly, especially considering how built up they were... Their introduction was alright, but I think the good guys didn't really have the time they needed to slow down this supposedly intractable enemy... it felt so rushed. It might have been better if they had ended at season 8, as that would have been a good ending.

Which is too bad. As bad guys, they were definitely a step up from the gould, as much as I love them. At least they had more interesting and definable goals than the Wraith

They didn't defeat the Ori; in the movie they're still going to be fighting them.

Edit: Also, the natural ending point for the show would've been the fight in Antarctica and the subsequent founding of Atalntis. I like Ben Browder but everything after that (the Baal and Ori arcs) just seemed tacked on and uninspired. I also wish they would've had the balls to make the Stargate public knowledge.

I think the greatest thing about Sheppard is his "Kirkness" in that he is always hooking up with the alien women.

Atlantis is pure, golden win. I had to get into SG1, but I loved Atlantis from the very start.
