Persistence is key. You think ten runs is bad? quit salvage right now. The drop rates may surprise you: for instance, my salvage group is currently 1/50 (2% droprate) on powderkeg yamadan in SSR. Now my group runs 7 nights a week, with 1-3 runs per night. A lot of people can make between 3-5 runs a week with a few weekend warriors, and a few everynighters

The numbers don't lie. Ten salvage attempts is really nothing in the long run. You gotta keep at it and make it a habit.
For about a month straight I was doing Bhaflau farming 5 nights a week with a static group. The core consisted of a bard and me (blm) who wanted 1F, and a sam who wanted 2F, and we took some fill-ins usually 6 total. Half the runs MB wasn't even up and that was always a disappointment. After a month of mostly Bhaflau farming my linkshell started to complain that we were not being very diverse in which zones we attempted, and a few members were growing frustrated with the constant rampart spamming. As a result we decided not to spam ramparts for a long while. By then our sam had got his 2F drop, but the 1F people weren't so lucky. So I am going to conclude by telling you the moral of the story: 1) Keep with it and you will win 2) Since you are monk you will win before anyone else does 3) It could be worse
Now here are our stats for 1F and 2F:
