Starcraft II, 3 seperate games??

Apparently Blizzard announced that Starcraft II will be 3 seperate games games, each a campaign for a race. No one seems to know if this means we have to pay 150bucks for the whole thing or not... If so then hello to pirating all 3 copies.

Because you can pirate WoW expansion keys? Its kinda obvious they aren't going to do this without some type of registration/key system. In that case your not going to be able to "pirate" the game.

I would doubt the second and third campaigns will be fully priced. I would guess less than an expansion.

That said, SC2 is one of the few games that would be worth $150 for many people.

You're suggesting they'll require an internet connection to play the Single Player. There is literally no chance of this happening, so yes you will be able to pirate the games.

You'll need a unique CD key to play online though, which is most of the value of the game for most people, I would guess... right?

Definitely will need a unique CD key to play online, just like the original Starcraft and most other online games with a single player component.

Not sure who would "pirate" a game where most of its glory is online. In the end Blizzard wins, no matter what price is set. Because those who will download it to play single player, will sooner or later invest in buying the damned thing to go online for multiplayer.

Can always play LAN/Hamachi with a pirated copy. But yeah, they're all going to be stand alone games and not expansions (although essentially they are expansions), so I wouldn't be surprised to see some shitty price for all 3.

Mmm, I wouldn't say everyone. I know quite a few people actually that like just regular single player games and aren't really into multiplayer.

Can always buy one and pirate the other two for single player. They aren't going to require all 3 to play online.

Did they change it to be this way for Starcraft? In college I may or may not have lived on a floor where somebody may or may not have pirated it and the rest of the floor may or may not have used that same copy & key to play each other over the Internet.

I think it just means there's going to be separate campaigns for each race like the first game. I seriously doubt it will be $150 dollars.

But, in SC1 all races were pretty much connected so playing a diff race in single player mainly revolved around a diff-yet-connected story. So, SC2 must really deliver on each race being a very unique story w/ some amazing exclusive maps & not reusing most stuff. This is the only way I can see em getting by w/this idea... Blizz doesn't need money, unless WoW has made their cash crop dreams so big that they intend to milk SC for all they can

Haven't heard anything related to the bolded statement, I doubt they would do that as it would be a giant "fuck you" to people who are buying only for the multiplayer.

Except that isn't going to happen. They're separating the campaign not the online gameplay. Blizzard isn't going to release the Terran version and then only allow you to play as Terran online, that'd be the most retarded move ever and Blizzard doesn't make those often.

You honestly think forcing people to play the race they bought the single player campaign for would be a reasonable idea? Honestly?
