    merits and torques

Question: how much does +1 skill add to Accuracy and attack.
    -so a torque +7 =
    -adding a merit +2 =

I heard somewhere that for every 1 skill you get. it adds 2 attack can anyone shed some light on this for me?

    For skill points <= 200:

    1 point of skill = 1 point of accuracy/attack.

    For skill points > 200:

    1 point of skill = 0.9 points of accuracy/attack.

On any skill > 200 a torque will add 6.3 accuracy/attack. That value is floored however, so usually will only be seen as 6. With full merits on an A+ weapon a torque will add 7 because of the flooring rules. I haven't researched if there's a similar point on other skill ratings.

Now on A+ jobs with Earring and Torque, is it possible that post-300 skill, that ACC:Skill drops to .8:1? Not that it matters much, but I was just curious. =)

I'm pretty sure that only accuracy is .9 after 200, not attack.

I'm pretty sure if attack isn't than accuracy isn't either, gl testing a fraction of an acc point >.>

Accuracy is, I've tested it myself.

How do you test a fraction of a point accurately without having someone hold a mob while you go use merits to guarantee you're on the same level mob >.> I've never seen an adequate test with proof, can someone link me?

You /check mobs with various levels of accuracy. It's pretty easy actually.

I know that, but when you're messing with a fraction of a point of accuracy per skill, getting precision when the most you can change is 12 skill through DM earring and sea torque..you'd need very specific gear to be able to test exact amounts to prove at some point +X skill gives +X acc and at some other point +X skill gives +(X-1) acc. I've never seen a test done with all variables properly controlled, if such a test has been done link prz

It's not that we add 7 skill here or add 5 skill here, and then test. It's how the whole formula works.

    floor(DEX * MOD) + 200 + floor([Combat Skill-200]*.9) + Eq/Trait/Song
    MOD for 1H = .5
    MOD for 2H = .75

Since we know this works for all combinations of merits/torques/earring, etc... it becomes a very accurate estimation tool. It's worth nothing that the fractional DEX portion of accuracy does NOT combine /w the fractional portion of Combat Skill greater than 200. Since adding sushi multiplies the completed result by 1.15, it's easy to show that fractional accuracy is not used.

To answer your question, there is no other way to test fractional accuracy. And until there's some proof showing otherwise, it's safe to say that truncation takes place throughout, and on the final result. This is the way it works for most other FFXI calculations.

    1 melee skill always = 1 attack.

    Thankyou for all your replies.
So how much accuracy does a sea torque actually give to a 2h user?

    The same it gives 1H jobs, floor(7 x 0.9), 6 acc.
    It's in Kirschy's formula, ffs.

Love Torque gives me 10.3 or 10, which makes it a PCC+1 because it adds 6 attack and 5 DEX in addition to 10 total acc
