    Proto-Omega Zerg Question

About a month ago, my Limbus group tried to zerg Proto-Omega with 1 x KC DRK and a whole bunch of DD's using their respective 2 hours. The party with the KC DRK had March x2 Minuet x2 up (I believe). The end result was Proto-Omega at around 50% HP remaining.

We decided to try again a few weeks ago. This time, we had 1 x KC DRK, 1 x M. Kris DRK, and a few other random DD's doing their 2 hours with the same brd songs up. When the zerg was completed (Ie - SE wore), Proto-Omega was at around 90% HP. The WHMs and RDMs were cure bombing the two DRKs and were having trouble keeping either of them alive. I am aware that SE is dependant on the current HP of the DRK, so not being able to keep them at full HP the entire time could have contributed - but even with that being said, the mob should've been below 90%. We also had it CS Stun locked.

Anyways, I'm just wondering what my LS is doing wrong, or if there are any reccomended strategies for zerging omega?

    Thanks,

For the 90% one... it was on all 4 legs I guess ? >_>

Yes - It was on all four legs, but I thought that soul eater was not affected by the inherent damage resistance it has in all four legs mode??

If you had it stun locked, why were your DRKs having trouble keeping their HP up? SE's damage is completely recovered by BW, so the only way for a DRK to lose HP while use SEBW is to take damage from the mob's attacks.

Also, SE is affected by damage resistances, so using it while Omega is in his melee-resistant form will do virtually nothing, as you saw.

Not to be a dick but why are you zerging omega in the first place?" We just take him down normally and then hold him at 26% and farm gun pods till 5 minutes left. Then soon as we kill that last gun pod we tell people to go for it rip him down. If you're not aware you can get limbus chips towards another omega while you fight him. We've got up to 3 chips before while fighting him making it a quick turn around to another omega.

Whenever I did 'zerg on Omega it was always BLM's Nuke till it stands up during Chainstun, then when it stands up Melee would WS, or 2hr etc. If you've got a party of BLM you could make it stand fairly quickly.

    edit: in addition; everything elipse said as well. You can do Omega every other run if you get lucky, unlike my luck which usually results in 3 Charcoal Chips. -o-;

Clearly they were hitting for very low damage, like 20s, due to (90%?) phys dmg resistance Omega has in 4legs mode... Recover 20 HP while losing 100+ Hp per hit = you are just killing yourself.

We never DRK zerged Omega, but if you want decent results I think you have to go when it's in his final form.

    Omega zerg

Black Mages, preferrably subbing Ninja, make very short work of this.
Omega starts in physical damage reduction mode for the first 2 minutes. You really shouldn't even bother trying to melee it until it stands up. My linkshell doesn't kill it before it stands up purely for the purpose of killing gunpods.

    1) Wait til 2 legs
    2) CS Stun + Zerg
    3) Toss your 2x homam heads

    Or better yet...

    1) Fight it normal until final mode
    2) Kite it around, killing the pods that pop every 5 mins, and widdling it down to 5% or so
    3) At 5 minute warning, wait for one more pod (unless it just popped one), then kill it
    4) Toss your 2x homam heads and enjoy the dumb synthesis materials that the pods dropped instead of the chips you needed

Not to be an ass, but what the fuck possessed you to "zerg" it. A few blms and a couple of sams will put into the 26% phase in 3-4mins of fighting.

Have blms nuke a bit while its on 4 legs and keep some mp back for the pods. When it goes into 2 legs for first time it will pop a pod, blms kill it. 2 good sams if kept alive will drop its hp from 85%-25% before it goes back to 4 legs (sometimes 2hr not even needed). Once it moves into final phase it pops another pod and then you have 20-25mins to farm chips.

There is no incentive to zerg, any group of 12~ people can kill omega in 10mins but you want to use your remaining time to farm pods and get some chips towards future pops.

yeah... i agree with the above... kite and kill pods for chips.

    pisses me off though cause i want ultima, and we do about 3 omega for every 1 ultima ; ;

I've done Omega a few times in "zerg mode"; always asked why doing it in that way, since we were going to lost like 2 weeks farming chips.

Anyway, zerging Omega it's kinda lol, we did it w/o any KC or MK: probably you just have to wait the 2 legs form.

What these guys said. Omega's not by any stretch hard to straight or kite and it's just stupid not to farm pods. There is absolutely no advantage in zerging.

Can Omega counter while being stun locked?

That would be interesting to watch a kclub drk go at it from the front.

And yeah what the rest of these guys said, 10 people with the correct jobs and you've got an easy fight where you can farm pods for the next run.

As for linkshells that do 2-3 Omega for every Ultima simply suggest 3 Omega per 2 Ultima. It's the same amount of farming runs and there's still more Omega than Ultima.

How do you farm gunpods at 26%? Doesn't he only use Pod Ejection when he changes modes prior to 25%?

5 min intervals I believe. 30 min BC, 5 pods.

    25 mins remaining
    20 mins remaining
    15 mins reamining
    10 mins remaining
    5 mins remaining

Edit: timer might begin when Omega is engaged.

In my experience it's not every 5 min; I've seen it used 2 and 2.5 minutes after the previous use in final form. My understanding was that he uses it every other time he switches to 2 leg form (i.e. two minutes after pull and then every 4 min after that), when he switches to final form at 25%, and then as a random TP move during final form. But I could be wrong.

Yeah I've seen it use Pod Ejection quicker than 5 minutes as well, much like how Valyana described it.

Not meaning to hi-jack the thread or anything, but the Limbus group I am currently in has been having trouble with Gunpods. Or rather, we haven't been getting them to pop. We hold Omega at about 26%, but aside from the first one that gets popped, and maybe another one when we finally get bored and beat it down (25ish minutes in, and under 20%), they just haven't shown up.

    Anybody know what's going on?
