3.2.2 prot pally spec build/glyphs help

yea i'm pretty much a nub when it comes to pallies and with the changes in 3.2.2 i'm even more confused, anyone care to shed some light for me? pref with the wowhead talent builder since it has the glyphs section as well.

i'm looking for general soloing capability as well as being able to tank stuff for a group/raid so would prot/holy be good? or prot/ret?

Prot is one of those things where everyone does it different. Some favor threat, some favor Salv glyph, ect. I'll show you mine which I currently have no problem with.

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

It has Divine Guardian which some prot pallys choose not to take, and does not have Seals of the Pure because honestly I rarely have threat problems. I also know some very successful pallys that don't take Pursuit of Justice and do take Vindication, choosing to enchant their boots with Tuskars instead. There's nothing exact to it, just don't take something stupid like Divine Int or Reckoning.

It would work on SotR if I read it correctly? I dont know if it might be better in specific situation, but the dot from SoV is always nice when you get feared/stunned and can't generate threat for a few seconds.

It might be good on ret when you fight multiples mob at the same time thought

SoV has the added benefit of 10 expertise glyphed as well.

We need to see if SoComm procs cleave even off of HotR, if it does, the best aoe tank just leaped ahead a few more miles over everyone else.

Edit: actually I'm retarded, it doesn't, so no, it's still entirely worthless for anything other than doing heroics as ret.

It's just the added damage of the seal that is splashed? Not the actual attack. That's how I read it.

Does it work on normal attack, or just skill?

It works on "anything that only attacks a single target", so for ret every melee hit and crusader strike will cleave the SoC procs, for prot normal hits will cleave the soc procs, but it won't be adding cleave to the procs off HotR.

It *might* be worth the point if all you ever do is heroics, and it will find its way into trash tanking in Icecrown most likely. Every melee hit cleaving 2 extra targets for ~30% of normal dmg will be pretty hot, if they make big retarded messes all over like naxx.

ok, this is gonna sound real bad but asking questions is how you learn right.

what the hell are you guys talking about, lol.

this might sound just as bad but, why would ignoring reckoning be my best bet? i know i'm not working for dps as a prot build but would the extra damage not help with threat generating?

If expertise isnt capped, you might be countered on parry. Not much of an issue thought, but certain boss hit like a truck.

It's not a bad skill, but if you're trying to increase your damage, there is talent in ret spec that are just as good, and help the whole party. Crit increase boost your damage more than the additional attack you get from Reckoning (works on every skill, and doesnt have large downtime when you fight a single target).
Heart of the crusader = 3% crit increase for everyone in your party
Conviction = 5% crit increase for yourself.

If you're soloing a lot, it's probably good trait, since it means more SoL proc, but there is better alternative.

The simple answer is that paladins don't have threat issues, and reckoning gets worse and worse the better your gear gets.

Ok abit of a bump here, but my build is... The World of Warcraft Armory

Is this spec good enough or is it worth putting some in to holy for the added bonus on seals? Im not sure if it is and i dont know what i would drop the points from.

I highly doubt Conviction is worth the loss of Divinity. Seals of the Pure is a talent you can take if you need the threat, personally I didn't till I joined my last guild.

    wat

    Spoiler: show
No, seriously. Divinity is a sub-par talent and a sink of 5 talent points for protection paladins. Without starting an argument on these boards, you can find a lengthier explanation on the Maintankadin forums, as well as EJ.

If he wants threat, he would be better off grabbing Crusade as he is already so far into the Ret tree. Assuming 5/5 SotP and 3/3 Crusade, SotP *marginally* wins on non-Crusade mobs, but Crusade wins hands down on the mobs it effects. Looking to the future, you can be sure ICC will be filled with mobs affected by Crusade. In that event, a build like this would be in order.

Is divine sacrifice really worth it on tank? I used it a lot in 5 men with Divine protection, but is sound kinda shitty in raid.

Jer has the right of it. I had slight threat problems, and finally tried Crusade.
It really is amazing. Nothing touches my threat now, and on a Crusade mob, it's not even possible.

Meh, I threw it in there because he had it in his earlier/current build. For a MT, it's not that great, for an OT it can be useful. The problem is you pretty much have to bubble to use it without dying. It depends on what capacity they are going as.

Some of the other points are movable depending on what you want. For instance, I only put 1 point in Conviction and fill out PoJ to move down into Crusade.
