    Banish effect vs. Memory Receptacles

My bf and myself as a blu and whm were going down promyvion for our slivers for Apoc. Nigh when we noticed something interesting. This may already be known, but I have yet to have heard of it.

As whm I just let him solo the MR's pretty much and just cure him. Being as that was pretty boring I decided to use my only dmg spell and cast banish on it. His melee hits (with scimitars) went from a range of 29-35 to 36-42. After a few seconds(maybe 10 or so?), it would go back to the lower range. We alternated on MR's to see if banish was indeed affecting them, and it seems that it was. EVERY time I used banish, his damage would go into that higher range, without fail.

I would post screenshots but I don't use windower. Has anyone else ever heard about or experienced this? I do know that banish affects the damage reduction to things like skeletons but I didn't think it applied to MR's.

Perhaps Receptacles are given the attributes of Ghosts/Skeletons? It makes a little sense, needs some testing though.

Pretty doubtful unless you test it with something other then just eyeballing it.

btw I think you can still take screenshots even though you don't have windower if im not mistaken.

The only way you could take screenshots of chat logs is with fraps, or manually doing print screen, in which case you would just save a single one.

We did all the MR's for holla and dem, and the effect was the same on each one. We varied between using banish the entire fight and not at all, to using it at the 50% mark and watching what happened. I agree, this is a very unusual thing to see, but the fact that it happened *every* time makes me wonder. Either it does have an effect removing some sort of damage reduction or we were just lucky somehow every time.

I agree, needs more testing, hopefully someone out there will be curious enough to try just to compare results. Also the numbers were the range that I gave, no higher or lower until banish was used, a short time after which it would return to the lower damage range.

Banish I dmg resist down effect lasts 30 sec on undead, Banish II 60 sec.

Yeah but the thing here is that MR's....aren't undead. Which is why this makes me scratch my head and wonder about it. At least I got all my slivers!

Really weird part of this: Drain Samba works on MR's, but not Undead.

Perhaps Banish has a more general cut to -dmg taken, or MR's are just really fucked up mobs.

Interesting, have you checked to see if this effect applies to other Empties as well (Weepers, Wanderers, Seethers, plus the 3 crag-specific mobs)?
It's possible this could be a trait of Banish vs. Empties in general -- in the CoP story series, we see that the Emptiness is vulnerable to the Light contained within the "Eye of Altana".

Nay, we avoided them since we were just going for slivers and we were only a duo pair, and most things that had enough hp to really test it could very well kill us x.X Would certainly be worth it to see if it applies to them as well.

I'll check if it works on other mobs later on Pld.
