Since it will likely be years until I can play this game would it be worth it to just watch all the cut scenes in order, and suppliment some info learned from gameplay from walkthroughs or other written info sources. I guess I could also just try to find gameplay videos too.

Someone could also mail me a ps3 if they want.

You could watch the cutscenes and/or find the script/story somewhere... I'm sure someone has written it down. Can't you rent a PS3 somewhere? I know I've rented consoles in the past, but not this gen.

I think there was a big MGS encyclopedia released on PSN as well which cover pretty much everything in the MGS universe, and if that fails try youtube as aforementioned.

I remember watching the mgs2 cutscenes before I played mgs3 so I could remember the story but I cant find streaming cutscenes for mgs4 yet, just torrents which are like 10gb in total.

in my opinion MGS4 was an amazing amazing amazing game and half of the experience was playing it through as well as watching the cut scenes. I recommend stealing a PS3/copy of the game if thats what it takes! but do it really slick like, id rather not read about you in the news! xD

no but seriously , great game. I seriously recommend finding a way to play it. I wouldnt recommend spoiling it for yourself by only watching the cutscenes alone.

From my old MGS site. Every in game cutscene in HD. Will give you all the information on the game.

Either way though, I still would recommend actually playing the game since it is godly.

Also, you can find HD cutscenes for every MGS game on there as well. And you can find them streamed out like a movie as well.

There was a youtube series of a guy playing all the way through MGS4 a couple days after it came out. It has all the gameplay as well as the cutscenes, and is probably still out there, you'd just have to skip by all of the actual playing parts.

Even still though... If it is at all humanly possible for you to play this game (without robbing a store), do it. One of the absolute best games ever and I wouldn't want you to spoil it, given any choice in the matter.

Wow, that's a pretty amazing post. Kudos to that guy.

But yeah, if you can actually play, you'll enjoy the story 100x more than just watching the cutscenes.

if you're going to use the MGS database from PSN, you need a MGS4 save file to access any spoilers.

not that matters since the OP obviously doesn't own a PS3 but whatever

Gonna advise against it one more time... I'd just wait until I can play the game, rather than spoil it. The PS3 won't be $400 dollars forever and I think MGS4 is dropping to Greatest Hits price soon. If this was any other game, I wouldn't be bothered by it.

Buy ps3 from a big box store (walmart, kmart) and ask what return policy is, hardware is usually 7-30 days so long as you have everything with it.

Software is usually the only thing you can't return.

Do you have enough time on your hands to beat MGS4 though, that's the only question.

Check out the site I linked. They have already announced a new MGS for the ps3. No info on it out yet since it is years away. Just that there will be another instalment but Snakes story is done.

The walmart near me has a 90 day return policy so I think I'll use up most of that time and play all the good games ps3 has. Mgs4, uncharted, resistance 1/2, killzone 1/2, maybe ratchet and clank, ninja gaiden. Are any of these not worth playing, and am I missing any must play games? I probably won't have it online and likely just 1 controller so I think lbp won't be too great.

I could name way more than 90 days worth of games... but as long as you play MGS4, that is the important part. I haven't played Uncharted (I know it's gotta be good) and I haven't played R&C. Resistance is awesome. Do you have another console? There are a few really good multi-plats you can play.

Since this IS on the topic of MGS4. I've recently gotten back to the start of act 5 and man how much I missed the rex part of the game(I wish he would make Z.O.E. 3 already). Also I don't know how or why but I messed up sneaking and my alert wouldn't go down on outer haven but it did on my first play through and that shit made me ragequit for now.
