Here's a brief review of the netbook

The Inspiron Mini 9 has an 8.9-inch widescreen display and can be configured with either Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux. The Mini 9 is powered by an Intel Atom processor for power saving performance. An 8GB flash drive makes it so the Mini is quiet and has very fast storage and configure up to 1GB of RAM for a performance boost too. A 4-cell battery offers up to 4 hours of battery life.

The weight of the Mini 9 starts at 2.28lbs to make this an extremely portable laptop.

I think I will install OS X or windows 7 after upgrading the ram to 2g and HD size to 16g Solid State HD for another $150.

Nope. I got some promotional thing through dell (bought a XPS Laptop about 2 months ago) - it was their one day promotional deal, and just happened to luck on that mini.

Wow, awesome deal. In case anyone is wondering, it has a GMA 950 graphics adapter which runs FFXI quite well.

Now we need a promotion like this for new 17" Macbook Pro.

I bought one with a stock upgrade from Dell for 16GB SSD and 2gb ram from newegg. Everything including taxes and shipping was about $300. It has bluetooth, wifi n/g/, SD card, USB2, and 4 hours of battery life. It only weighs 2 pounds so it's ultra mobile and perfect for me to have it around when I am out and about after installing windows 7 and OS X.

Well, it was only $50 off the normal price, so not that big of a discount when you think about it. I'm sure they'll have it again.

"As is" comes with Ubuntu, so you'll need a Microsoft Windows XP and some HD space(upgrade to a bigger HD Drive, or use an external one).

512 will be enough for FFXI, but I'd recommend a gig for a better performance.

I would have gotten one of these if I hadn't already have a small 13in notebook from Dell. It was my mom's originally but she didn't like the small size so it's mine now hehe. 199 was a great price for what it was.

Wow, I always wondered if these things could actually run XI. I am seriously considering getting one now. The only thing that would kill me is that it doesn't have a numpad; I guess I could get one of those USB ones, right?
