While doing assaults, a friend of mine and I were discussing Captain rank and what happens to other assaults. He was saying he remembered reading somewhere that once Captain, all assaults give you 1500 regardless of what it is. I'm curious as to if he's right or not. Anyone who IS a Captain able to tell me?

You don't get any AP bonus for being Captain. It basically grants you the following;

Can store 1 extra tag.
Free Alzadaal Undersea Ruins access (even without a Permit).
Free Runic Portal Usage.

Also being called Captain by some NPC's. I know the Aht Urghan generals mention your rank when you talk to them.

That's what I thought from reading before posting here, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks. Just sucks 'cause I'd like to spend my time getting 1500 and farming Extermination due to it's fun as RDM/BLM nuking stuff down :D

Captain Rank allows you to never have to use IS again except for spamming ISNM; it's just as good as 1500AP a run to me considering the money I've made since getting Captain.

You still have to use IS(100) for Aht Urhgan Sanction bonuses.

I'm also pretty sure you still need IS to purchase imperial coins.

Guess I shouldn't have eluded to not needing it for that, but really 100IS is something you can solo in get in party in a matter of an hour/minutes. As far as coins go, they're so cheap I don't even bother using IS for them.

By that you mean, it's so easy to get 1k IS in a merit party, it's actually a very nice extra source of income to sell coins to people.

For some I would say that selling coins is a great way to go. For me, 3k IS means 3 gold pieces for 30k or a chance at 330k on a Khroma. I can't remember the last time I was in dire enough straights that I'd wouldn't take the chance (plus I've been abnormally luck with Khroma).

I won't deny for some selling coins is a great idea, but for me with alternative sources of income, I don't see the point.

I think your friend was confused because the FL series of assaults give 1500 AP regardless of the number of people in your PT. All of the other assaults scale down as you bring more people, whatever AP you get with 3 people you'll get 90% of that with 4, 80% with 5, and 70% with 6, but those last 5 always give the same amount. But this has nothing to do with Captain (except that you have to beat them along with all the others to obtain it).

Captain was great and fun to accomplish.

Doing all 50 again for mythic was annoying as fuck.

With captain it gives you 4 to use without storing, 5 if you grab an extra during the week.
Without captain you get 3 without storing 4 with storing.

How do you manage to do that? Storing 5 would speed up my Nyzul set farming immensely for those who don't have Captain.

Edit-you edited the post I said I didn't get what you were saying. You can store 1 and get 4 more by just completing all 50 assaults.

You get the extra tag upon completion of the 50 regular assaults and one successful Nyzul Isle Investigation, it has nothing to do with having Captain Rank or not.

That's a technicality, if you're done 50/50 assaults and you're not captain, you're dumb.
