I was trying to update payment information to reactivate an account this month, and this popped up

The code is the same reported on the back of the card, I've been using this same CC recently for other online purchases without problems (amazon, ms points etc), and I also remember using it to pay some pol fees some months ago. It is a prepaid, rechargeable visa card, if that matters.
Playonline support was like "you must be typing it wrong", well I actually tryed typing a wrong security number on purpose, and it gives a different error code (incorrect card details or something like that).
A ls friend of mine who was also trying to reactivate his account this month got the same problem.
Any ideas on what could be causing it?

What I would do is call the bank that controls the card. Their number will be on the back of the card.

DId you get your card renewed? If I recall correctly, they change the security code on the card when you renew it. If so, check with your bank and you should probably call POL as well to see what you can do.

yes, i got my card renewed, got a new code and tried it, phailed, talked to POL represantive and said to me that perhaps the code was wrong (a printing error) so i made my bank change my card 2 times, and all the times the POL says the same "Invalid verification code", talked to a rep again and said to me that they dont have any information and couldnt help me.

Calling POL about any and all billing issues is pretty much useless. When I moved and went to update my information i had my card denied every time for nearly 6 hours. The only thing i learned from the pol people was that there is a 30 min "cooldown" if you will on trying again with the same card number. So call your bank, get your information directly from their side and confirm every thing, if you live in an apartment make damn sure you do it exactly like the bank has it, ie apt. or appt APT. Apparently SE is extremely specific about the confirmation info on the billing section.

As far as your situation goes, just keep asking your bank, maybe you'll get a rep who didn't drop out in the 3rd grade and offer you some useful advice.

I went through this a few weeks ago trying to use a Preloaded Visa to renew a friends account, but I ended up putting it on my Visa instead since that error kept popping up. Basically, they hit your account with a $1 charge when you put in your information to see if the card is active. If it doesn't return it properly, it will say the card is invalid. It sucks but it's not a POL issue it's more of a bank issue. In short, the PreAuth is failing so it's denying your card even though it's valid.

Thank you for your replys, i heard the $1 charge from a friend that have his card blocked, gonna make a call to my bank to ask if they have the $1 transactions locked (that is my friends problem).

I would say they are really picky about it. Just make sure the zip code is the same as your information with the bank. I have issues trying to put APOs, and after many tries I figured out I can put APO in the city section and pick any state I want for State section.

But to help you out, can't really say much, I had the same issue, but it kind of resolved itself. Actually it was more like my wife did it on a different computer with the same information and it was able to go through.

There are a lot of banks that do not allow "test" transactions because they get charged for every transaction from Visa, MC, Amex, etc. The correct way to verify the account is for the vendor to make an inquiry. The incorrect way is for the vendor to make a small charge then refund the charge. Banks hate this and will have safeguards in place to make sure it doesn't happen.

Solution that worked for me with POL was to just enter the card and let the error come up. When the billing cycle came up, it worked just fine. Beyond that, see if you can get someone at SE to verify your account manually (yeah right...but some people win the lottery right?).

I was getting this when trying to set up a my card details on a different game. My bank contacted me because of a number of failed transactions had been recorded against the card and they were worried someone was trying to use my card fraudiently (sp?).
The bank told me they were having a lot of problems with gaming companies by the way they are submitting the details, the bank did something their end and told me to try agin and it would go through.
