Canceling WS quests

So I just got 71 on my MNK and I head over to bastok to flag the quest for Asuran Fists, but the guy doesn't give me the quest. Someone in my LS mentions that you can't get it if you have another one active...and then I remember i've had a pole of trials sitting in my inventory for the past 3 years. (lolmeleesmn)

So I have a bit of a dilemma now... is there any way of cancelling a quest for trial weapon? Or am I stuck breaking the latent on a fucking staff?

Did you try trading the pole back to its NPC, or just talking to the NPC? This was just asked and I believe that was the answer.
