Since IQ is based not on accumulated knowledge or familiarity with society or social customs, and is solely based on one's innate sharpness and mental capacity within one's own norms, I wonder what is going around Africa that causes retardation.

What the IQ study implies is that if you raise an african kid from birth over here in the same conditions as a non-african kid, side by side, the african kid will exhibit signs of retardation and will almost always perform more poorly than the non-african kid. However, raise the non-african kid in africa side by side with an african kid, and the non-african kid will adapt to african culture more readily than the african kid.

IQ is not a universal scale, each test scores based on what the guy who wrote the test valued more or less.

There are some tests which get away from this into more accurate descriptions of cognitive abilities.


So if the test was about petting kittens and eating fruit, naturally Koko wins.
