Xmarks (syncs bookmarks (I love this)
Got a lot more, but I have them deactivated since I don't use them often. Don't wanna slow things down so I only have the ones above activated.
Besides the obvious ones:
- Secure Login
- Web Developer
- Split Panel
- Cooliris
noscript obviously for blocking potentially malicious scripts on websites, but you'll need to tweak it a bit so check this guide by Aikar.
Adblock blocks unwanted ads from notoriously spammy sites AND you can block images on any site. Sono doesn't like this :<
IE tab - uses IE rendering engine for websites that run in IE only, not perfect, but pretty good
FFXI helper - plugin that tracks vanadiel time, moon phases, etc., among a couple other useful things
Dupe Tab - Duplicate tabs
FFXIAH search - can create it yourself, just google how to add a search engine
Google preview - preview results on google
Zotero+Reference Desk (<3 for research)
Screengrab - takes a screenshot of the tab that is open without you having to scroll
Edit: Read it Later - mark a website for later view
You guys should add descriptions of what the addons/plugins do so we can easily sift through them and see if they'd be useful. That being said...
Adblock Plus - Blocks ads, and does a very good job of it. Everyone should have this.
Forecastfox - Displays weather in the "File" bar.
Gmail Manager - Probably my most-used addon. Displays your email in the bottom right corner with any new emails you may have.
Greasemonkey - Used for What/Waffles. Runs scripts for listening to bands' MySpaces and similar artists. Makes it really easy to find new artists.
IE Tab - Some sites still don't like Firefox, so it's IE in Firefox for that one tab.
Session Manager - Saves your list of tabs you have open so you can just resume browsing if you have a set list of sites you visit daily.
Tab Mix Plus - Adds a ton more features and options for those boring tabs you get in default Firefox.
Update Notifier - Lets you know if ANY of your addons has an update available and automatically installs it for you.
Okay, Cooliris is pretty fucking cool. Thanks a ton Meteora.
I probably use firefox more at work then home(just cuz i'm so damn productive, right?)
I use:
Boss Key (allows you to bind a key combination to minimize firefox to nothing so no one sees your browser if they use or look at your PC
meebo plugin (IM)
twitterfox
noscript
adblock plus
And one i haven't seen mentioned yet, Autopager (Pretty dope plugin that automatically loads the next page in a site to the bottom of the current page)
If there is one addon that I can recommend over any other, it has to be linkification. It takes all the link that you see that are normal text and turns them into a hotlink so,
goes from straight inclickable text into a quick and convenient hotlink. Go get it.
I was hitting submit reply when I lost my connection, but I did not forget about ya. Mycroft Project: Ffxiah.com Search Engine Plugins - Firefox & IE7
I once did it from within ffxi helper, but since I didn't feel that I needed helper and wanted something more convenient, I just searched for how to add it to my search engines
Besides the obvious ones (NoScript and AdBlock), I use one called Illimitux for catching up on TV shows. Most seem to be on Megavideo, which has an extremely annoying time limit, and that addon removes it.
edit: Nevermind, Megavideo seems to have figured it out, making this addon pointless. =/
CLiCk Speak - Text to Speech
CLiCk, Speak: A Talking Extension for Firefox
Highlight what ever you want spoken and it automatically reads it for you. It takes getting used to, but it's great if you have a long article you've wanted to read but don't have the attention span to do so! zzz
