Here's the problem.
Windows XP network:
3 PCs, 1 printer
PC1 (Dell GX280) has the printer hooked up to it by USB.
PC2 (Dell GX280) an exsisting PC
PC3 (Dell Optiplex 755) a new PC put in.
PC1 and PC2 can printer fine.
1 user on PC3 cannot print. The job is sent to PC1 print spooler and just hangs there, which in turn holds up the jobs from PC1 and PC2.
A new user logs into PC3 and can print. the user with the problems on PC3 can go to either PC1 or PC2 and print fine.
The printer was added to PC2 and PC3 by browsing to PC1 and connecting to the shared printer.
Steps taken so far:
Gave the "Everyone" group full rights to the Printer.
Gave the "Everyone" group full rights to the spooler folder.
Gave the user with the problem admin rights to PC1(can't give everyone full admin rights to the PC1)
Recreated the user's profile on PC3.
Reinstalled the Printer (with new drivers from HP)
Only way i could get it to work, was to put in a "switch" and give the printer an IP address
Any ideas on why this wouldn't work?
