Soloing ZNMs

I have been soloing ZNM/NMs and the like for some time now. I recently have become interested in attempting a solo/duo of Gotoh Zha the Redolent. I realize since he is a spellcaster he stops to cast alot making kiting extremely easy but my main question is this. Does he run out of MP ever? Does he have TP Regain like most other ZNMs. I have soloed up to Tier III for the Cerb path and am going to attemp a Tier III from that path as well. I just wonder if a RDM/NIN and RDM/DRK would be able to kite it indefinitely while stunning cures and attempting to force it to use Protect/Shell and Haste spells.

If anyone has thoughts, comments or anything please post.

He has alot of HP, but you should be able to do it. I've never seen him run out of MP personally. Stunning cures is very hard, he has an innate Fast Cast and stunning the cure spells requires perfect timing.

probably possible, i've lowmanned him without much difficulty using a Kite >- DoT/PUP/SMN hate free damage.

I am sure it would rage. That is almost guaranteed. But is it like Armed Gears's Rage mode? Where it significantly lengthens the time it takes. Does Firespit suddenly do normal damage at range? Is there any way to maybe lock it in BLM mode?

I've never actually seen it happen myself, but otherwiki says it can Benediction 2 hours after its previous use, so you'd have you have to have enough DD to kill it in 2 hours.

I've killed him with a party of 4-6 with RDMs and BLMs, although we had to unrage it to do enough damage to overcome its cures.

I don't know if they fixed this already or not, but:

When we did a Gotoh Zha, our PLD rounded one of the corners and Gotoh went yellow for a second (miraculously, and for no reason).

One of our BLMs popped a Stun to reclaim him, but then he stopped chasing our PLD (didn't go after the BLM either). Gotoh simply stayed put and all he did, from 52% to 0%, was turn to the person who had hate.

He did not cast, move from his spot, anything. He just stood there, stuck, and let us bash on him without any "response" at all.

Funny thing is, we got 2x Enkidu's Mittens, Light Grip, and I believe Nagelring. So him getting stuck rewarded us with some pretty nice drops

Details:

HP 52%
Went unclaimed when PLD turned a corner
BLM re-claimed with stun
No TH
He was locked into BLM form
He never went into WMH form from 100%-52% (obviously)

EDIT: And yes, you will most likely end up raging him if you're soloing. WHM form would kill you, time-wise.

Might be possible if it doesn't recover mp while passive. If it doesn't, then you might be able to finish it off in time by deaggroing it, letting it regen once to unrage, then spamming lots of nukes+dots. If it does recover mp while passive, i find it really unlikely that you'd be able to finish it off in time.

There is no passive MP regen, but like others have said, it can Benediction every two hours. It will probably have raged by the time the first Benediction goes off. If it hasn't, it will still probably have MP to Cure itself. Either way, you're looking at 100% HP > 0% HP in two hours while it's raged. Poison II isn't going to proc in this mode so you're left with Bio III only. Bio III at 8 HP/tic (210+ skill) can do just above 19000 HP. I'm pretty sure that it has more HP than that, so it's probably impossible.

IIRC this was a glitch that happened across many ZNMs, they'd bug out (idk if what you described was the trigger) and just stand there letting you pwn them at will.

I remember a vid on youtube of Tinnin glitching and just getting smacked up at leisure, too lazy to try and find it tho.

Was fixed quite a while ago I believe, if this happened recently then maybe it's a different bug or it wasn't completely remedied the first time.

Gotoh is a particularly extended fight, because he will definitely use Bene in WHM form...

so you're looking at 100%-> 50% in BLM form which is easy, after which he switches to WHM form... and then he'll bene somewhere along the way.. taking you back to 100%->0 on WHM. In WHM he can cure and buff, which is rather annoying.

In average group settings (maybe 7-12 people) it can already take you upwards of 20-30mins to kill Gotoh. Its a kited fight as well so nuke damage is somewhat preferred.. but still takes a while. HP is stupid long...

I'd like to hear how you solo Cerb path ZNMs btw...

also you might want to beware of the recent Rage bug thingy where ZNM mobs don't unrage or something
