Sacramento police arrested Wednesday a teenager they say is responsible for killing a cat with explosives.
Police said David Yang (photo), 19, tied up the cat with duct tape Tuesday night and trapped it with a construction cone in the 6200 block of 63rd Street. He then dropped an M80 explosive device or firecracker into the cone, which exploded and killed the cat, police said.
Spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong said police initially believed that a few other teenagers were involved, but after an investigation, determined that Yang was primarily responsible for the crime.
Police arrested Yang at about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 6200 block of Lemon Hill Drive after receiving a tip about his alleged involvement.
His motive for allegedly committing the crime is not clear, police said.
