    Wireless/Long Wired Headphones for TV?

Long story short, I live in an apartment building with very thin ceilings and the speakers on my LG TV are on the top. Therefore, when I watch netflix at night while fishing after 10pm on my PS3 and need to turn the volume up to hear it across the room the lady above me throws a shit fit pounding on the floor and screaming profanities about how she needs to work in the morning.

I don't have a whole lot of money to spend, but I figure the best solution is to purchase a set of headphones that I can use to watch DVDs at night. The TV is about 15 feet away from me so a standard pair won't work, plus they may not be comfortable for extended wearing. I also have a few dogs including a Neapolitan mastiff pit bull mix puppy which loves to chew so wireless may be best but I'm not sure about their price range. I don't need anything too fancy here, but would like something decent enough to enjoy the movies without having my ears hurt. The only electronic store we have around here is Best Buy and I'm not paying their inflated prices, so any online purchase recommendations are welcome.

Check out the other thread about gaming headsets, plus if distance is a problem, can always use USB extenders. Not really sure if this will affect quality or not.

Are you allowed to have a few dogs in your apartment?

Oh that's cool. I know a lot of people that have lost their homes and had to get rid of their dogs, because apartments won't allow them.

Same here, I inherited 3 dogs moving in with my fiancee, so we made sure to find a place that was beyond dog friendly lol. And made sure the contract stipulated such

Alright, so I checked out my TV and was surprised to find no headphone jack. The TV I have is a LG 42LG50. I did my best to take a picture of the page from the owners manual which shows the back panel, sorry for the blur but I had to enlarge it to make it readable. I also cut and pasted some info from a website regarding the audio input/output.

    R/F In (antenna cable) - Yes (1)
    L/R Audio/Composite Video In - Yes (3)
L/R Audio out - Yes (Audio Only)
    Digital Audio Out - Yes (2 - 1 Coax, 1 Optical)
PC Audio Input - Yes (1)
    USB 2.0 - Yes (1 - JPEG, mp3)

I checked out both the Logitech pair a member recommended and also researched these:

Amazon.com: Sennheiser RS 140 Wireless Balanced Headphones: Electronics

They're on sale down to 137$. My only question is will either/both the Logitech or the Sennheiser even work because there's no dedicated headphone jack?. Thanks for your advice everyone!

I believe they plug in via RCA. I don't think any of my TVs have had headphone jacks in at least 10 years.

    From Neweggs specs:
"Connects to RCA jacks (red and white outputs), 1/8" and 1/4" headphone sockets (anything with a headphone jack including laptop and desktop computers!)"

In the chance that you end up with a pair of headphones that doesn't have RCA plugs, you could always use an RCA male -> 3.5mm stereo female adapter.

    http://www.vpi.us/images/3-5f-rcam-full.jpg

They're usually not very long, so you may need to also get 3.5mm stereo extension cable as well.

I have a few of those adapters at home that I bought from VPI, but haven't yet tried them with my TV and PC headphones. Will give it a try later after work, but in theory it should function.

I recently purchased a pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force x1s to use on my 360 and they simply had a connector to tie in to the left/right Audio. They weren't super expensive at $59.99 and they worked great. If you're looking for a cheaper option they work great. The cord is pretty long too, I can pretty much sit anywhere in my room while playing. I wouldn't get a cordless option for Turtle Beach, or for most other Headphones (i hear they don't work too well and/or the battery life is horrible). Anyway, just throwing my experiences in. There are much better headsets out there, but for the price I love my Turtle Beach. <3

Any professional production quality level headphones should have a pretty long cord on them. My headphones personally can reach pretty much anywhere in my entire room (it's a coiled cord, so it stretches really far). Longest distance being about 16-18 feet.

You can also add an extension cable, but I wouldn't recommend going longer than 20 feet.

I've had bad experiences with wireless headphones, most notably bad battery life as mentioned above.
