    Should I be concerned?

Incoming lolWoW crap, but I'm honestly confused. I know I should (and will) contact support when they open tomorrow.. but just now I received an e-mail from battle.net (or blizzard, or someone) saying..

    Hello chop,

This e-mail notification is to inform you that the World of Warcraft account, luckykrazy, has just been merged into a Battle.net account. If you were not the person who performed this account merge, please contact Battle.net Support immediately.

You have successfully merged the following World of Warcraft account:

    luckykrazy

    into the following Battle.net account:

    v***@hotmail.com

From now on, you must use the above Battle.net account name and its password to play World of Warcraft and to access World of Warcraft Account Management for billing and subscription services. Your World of Warcraft billing information has not been affected by this merge.

Important! Please note that any existing recurring billing on the merged World of Warcraft account will continue uninterrupted.

In addition, you will use the above Battle.net account username and its password to log in to other Blizzard online services such as World of Warcraft Account Management, the World of Warcraft Armory, and the Blizzard Store.

A similar notification of this account merge has also been sent to the email address registered to the Battle.net account.

For more information, click here for answers to Frequently Asked Questions or to contact the Blizzard Billing & Account Services team.

    Sincerely,
    The Battle.net Account Team

I did not put the asterisks on the e-mail, it's how it came. As for the name "chop", no clue as well.

Here's the thing.. I played WoW for like one day about three years ago and canceled it the same day I downloaded it. I've never once thought about the vial substance of a game until this e-mail nor have I ever been charged. So as the title suggests, should I be concerned? Has anyone else gotten an e-mail similar to this?

Uh, its probably a phishing email. Just delete, or if you're worried, call Blizzard's customer service line. Also, B.net merges are not manditory, and can't occur unless you authorize it.

    1. Don't click the link in the email. Go through your official blizzard or game subscription service & support.

    2. Regardless if you play or not anymore, don't use the new user info to log into anything. Perhaps find out if some one is using your old account info or its just phishing email from a wow customer database/mail list.

Looks suspicious but pay in mind this is not coming from one familiar with wow or battle net, just seems as if you can find out about it from your gaming communities or main mode of information about the game. I thought wow did regular update posts and dev communications in their premier type sites?

Either way, you would probably have more attention to this thread and those familiar with the email or new policy in the Gaming>WOW Discussion section here. [2cents]
    Good luck to you :D

just goto the wow website and look under your account management. if its merged with battle.net then someone has been using your shit. it looks like someone was using your shit, merged to get the battle bot or something but never changed the accounts original email. thus you were sent the email.

edit, i would say scam but there was no reason to scam you. there is no link or weird number to call so in a sense its only a notification. seeing how the merge is voluntary it points to someone ninjad your account even though you never use it. just use the forgot password thing, which will send it to your email then login and change everything.

err unless they merged it into their battle.net account and it was a change of email notice

It's been happening to a lot of WoW players. There are two seperate ways to log onto your account:

    via WoW
    via Battle.Net

It would seem that they got ahold of your account info and using a Battle.Net account, merged/stole your account and claimed it as theirs under their Battle.Net account. Might want to look into it as they might charge your CC if they do things such as try to transfer your character(s) etc.

If he hasn't played it since the trial, he shouldn't have any credit card information left on the account, so he's probably in the clear.

Sounds like someone brute forced a login to your old account and merged it, or you picked up a keylogger (a gift to you from Adobe Flash exploits, most likely) and are sharing logins to multiple sites, so they discovered your old WoW account that way.

Thank you guys for the reply. At first I thought it sounded phishy too but I take great measures to protect myself from things like that.. and since the links are all legit links to Blizzard websites I guess I'll be calling them today.

One question though, and I know this maybe best answered (like someone suggested) in the WoW section but does anyone know the name it would show up as in charges on my debit account? I can't find anything relating to Blizzard/Battle.net/Etc. for the last 2-3 years that they've kept my records.

my friend got his account hacked and the hacker IMMEDIATELY merged it with another battle.net account, so your account is probably getting hacked and this isn't a phishing email. That's what the e-mail looks like when you merge your shit, with the asterisks and all. If you care about your wow account then you can contact blizzard and have them undo the change, but since you don't seem to then I would just leave it to the hacker.

Alright, thanks again. It looks like the hacker can just have my account. Nothing under that name has ever been taken out, it's been years since I made the account anyways so chances are it's an old debit card with an expired exp. date so I hope the hacker has fun with it (if it really was hacked) and the Lvl 5 rogue somethingoranotherlolwow.
