Downloading Aion from Steam

Hi,

I used Steam to download Aion last night, it took around 9 hours at 200 kb/s. I then went to work and left it downloading for the last 2 hours of the download. After a hard day's at work i was looking forward to trying the game out.
When i got home steam said "Download complete" so i double click the game from the steam list and it redirected me to the NCSoft download client, i was very surprised to see i had 8 hour download on my hands (Downloading at 250 kb/s).

I cant for the life of me work out why or how this game has such a HUGE update when it's so new. So i figured maybe Steam has downloaded the game and saved it in a random place on my computer and the NCSoft client isn't reading that i have already downloaded the game.

or maybe it is just a huge game/update? idk 18-20 hours of downloading is ALOT to me

I downloaded mine from steam and had no problems with it. Are you updating from 1.2 to 1.5 or something similar to that?

The NCSoft DLer is downloading from Aion_Main_0.0.0.0 to 1.5.0.6

Yeah that'll take a long time you'll just have to wait it out until it's done updating to the current patch.

830 mins and 16% done is a joke. oh wells, off to find some hookers + blackjack etc.

Urgh, that downloader is the devil. Chances are it'll make you download that file several times only to get corrupt data. Do yourself a favor and download the game client from filefront.com then just install it normally. Be sure you are using winrar 3.90. Any older version will corrupt the unzip. After installing, you can update the client normally through the NCsoft launcher.

There's also a 1.0->1.5 torrent around somewhere. You'll still need to patch, but not much. It's a 3gb update from 1.0 to 1.5.

I've given up trying to make the game work with steam, since the overlay doesn't work anyway.
