Any of this related to increasing the range? If not, anyone familiar w/ this type of router and how I would increase the range/signal on it.
Old neighbor moved out and this connection here is a bit slow.

There are no settings on routers to increase the range. You could swing to an N-class router that have near 1.5x the range of G routers, but yeah.
Small things you could try are putting the router at higher, more central area away from interference like microwaves and 2.4Ghz wireless phones.. or extend the antennae with some tin foil.
Transmit Power is the only thing that would have a direct impact on range from those options, and it's already at 100%. Try everything Cephius says.
Other solutions are to buy a repeater/bridge/install DD-WRT if you can.
can alwasy try this :`P

I don't physically have access to the router in question's box. Just was able to access it because it was the default router login so I was able to get in that way lol. I don't even know who it belongs to, just that it's in range for me to get sum interwebs.
I have a solution.
Buy internet & get your own router.
Your best bet then is to hook up your own router as a signal repeater, set it up somewhere better than your current spot, possibly at a window or outside of the house even. DD-WRT custom firmware makes setting up the software easy, won't even have to configure the original router.
but seriously, really ghetto lol. I'm pretty sure you can be fined for leeching wireless off of people if you get caught.
eh, if they didn't want me on, they'd have set a password. I have my own router. how do i go about setting this up?
Also, have been doing it for over 4 years now lol, so I think i'll be ok.
get a router that is dd-wrt compatible and make it bridge the connection.
this work?
Answer
Doesn't look like it.

will search for routers that support the firmware. I just bought one off ebay that had it reinstalled. But if you don't want to buy anything, can't do what I recommended.
