would start off reading this. I do not want to read it myself so if UC2 is not on the list thats worth it as well.

Tekken6 (next week)
AC2
god of war III (sometime in March I think?)
FF13 ( sometime in 2010 LOL)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII(same thing sometime 2010)
This is just my list, there is much much more that is all I can talk for because that is really all I have and am planing. I must of missed a lot of games tho. I will add some as i remember the ones I have yet forgot LOL
Prototype and Infamous are very close, if you like open cities go with Prototype, if you like it limited a tad with a better story Infamous is the way to go
Few more just use the list posted in the other for the most part.
Assuming this is your first next gen system I will list multi-plat titles as well.
Uncharted 1
Uncharted 2
MGS4
Demon's Soul
Ratchet & Clank
Dead Space
Borderlands
That should do you for awhile.
Do not buy Assassin's Creed.
It's pretty, interesting story, a few fun bits, but overall the gameplay is boring, repetitive ass.
AC2 looks much better and more interesting (being optimistic) so I'd just wait for that.
I'd also recommend Devil May Cry 4, it's sort of the opposite of Assassin's Creed in that the story is moronic and dull, but the gameplay is very fun when you start to get good at it. Not without it's share of frustrations, mind you.
Assassin's Creed is like $20 new. It has fun gameplay and the assassinations are fun to do.
This. This. Thisthisthisthisthis. I got it for $30 recently since its a Greatest Hits title now, and I will say I will never finish that game. I've not finished plenty of games because I lost interest in them, but I honestly can't remember the last game I stopped playing because I literally got to the point where I said, "Fuck this shit!"
Sure, the general little missions and free-running and assasinations are fun... the first 3 or 4 times. Then you realize you have to do 9 of them, and they're all the same fucking thing!
At least Assassin's Creed II doesn't look so damn monotonous, but I'm trying to not get excited for the game, lest it turns out to be as dragged out as the first one was.
A bit more on-topic, no one has mentioned Valkyria Chronicles yet.
What constitutes as fun is of course completely subjective, but while I agree that the unique assassinations are the best part of the game, there's only 9 and most of them can be done by simply running in, spiking the guy, and running out.
They try to make each assassination require a certain finesse but it's frequently not needed, as the above strategy gets the job done most of the time.
The combat system is very minimal, it kinda boils down to a game of rock-paper-scissors except you can see someones play just before they throw it, there's very little strategy involved.
I just think too much effort was put into the atmosphere (which is excellent) and not enough into the actual gameplay.
1. uncharted, no questions asked
then...
uncharted 2
mgs4
infamous
re:5
dead space
valkyria chronicles
that should keep you busy for awhile. for all the games besides uncharted 2, you should be able to find them for $30-40 or less. Dead space is $20 at BB.
Folklore.
It seems like this thread is made like every week, kuya's should be on the second page.

Not sure about the quality of the PS3 list, but it should be accurate based off of quality lists for other systems.
Disgaea 3.
i loved assassins creed, would definitely recommend. disgaea 3 is good, mgs4 and uncharted1+2 are musts. borderlands is amazing as well
I wish. I can still only find it for $50 new, $40 used, I'd rather just buy Valkyria Chronicles at that point.
Okay yeah, not really worth $50. It's a good game, but the whole having to do almost the same shit twice is retarded as hell. Doesn't work so well in an RPG.
I loved Assassin's Creed. Yeah, it's repetitive, but it repeats stuff I enjoy doing. It has almost no replay value, but for the price, I'd say way worth it. (I would have payed 60 for it had I a PS3 or better PC when it was released.)
Also loved inFamous, that was one great game.
I can think of many others, but they've been mentioned. Just wanted to stress those two since the others are usually not contested.
Why are you trying to get it used? It's one of the very few games actually worth the $60 price tag (56 from Amazon). One of the few games I've bought full retail price for this gen and it was definitely worth it.
As for the rest, how was Warhawk not mentioned? Great game, although it is online only if you plan on playing without an internet connection.
I see no mention of Killzone 2 either, another good game. Amazing graphics/game physics wise, may take you some time to get used to the heavier controls.
These on top of the ones that have been mentioned above.
