RMT in Aion need to be stopped...

The following is the text of a support request I sent to NCSoft this morning:

This is not actually a question, but a serious concern about the game. Many of the players I know from my guild and forum websites are very upset by the fact that despite the tools provided to report obvious RMT bots and players (who can be identified easily by their jibberish player & guild names), there are still literally HUNDREDS of them monopolizing various areas and monsters in Aion. This has impeded on our ability to complete quests, farm items for synthesis, and to efficiently gain experience points and advance our characters in this game. And let's not forget the auction house monopolization and price inflation that will occur because of the overwhelming presence of all these fake RMT players driving prices up to fund their illegal enterprise.

Last night I found myself stymied twice by these bots either monopolizing an entire region's mobs or by them stealing mobs I was fighting in order to take the drop items for themselves.

I understand NCSoft has taken measures to combat the RMT problem in the chat channels and mail system and it has shown great success. It is time that you now turned your attention to this other very serious problem. If it is not dealt with immediately, I can guarantee that it will drive actual players away from this game out of sheer frustration.

I've planned to post this on other Aion-related game forums to get the word out on this, and to put pressure on NCSoft to stop dicking around and kill these bots. Please, if you are as frustrated as I am by this send a letter to [email protected] and tell them to do something about it. Include your master/game account name, in-game name and server.

It's really not that bad from my perspective. Other than there being many bots (which hasn't effected my play personally) I think its actually much better than FF's situation was the last time i was playing that. At least these guys arn't killing NM's that I have seen and taking the fun out of the game. After you just camped the NM spawn for a few hours.

I've yet to have a bot take a mob from me and have yet to see a bot do any gathering. Now, everyone has their own experinces with this but i am pleased with the efforts they have made so far for the most part. At least LFG chat is usable now.

The obvious their 24/7 presence offers some advantages, especially when collecting things to AH. Seeing one name list thousands of aether crystals tells me that, while doubtful one single character collected them all, there's some collaboration. They've effectively driven prices down to the point where legit players might not be inspired to do it. On the other hand, I also look to something like Krall Molars. Most classes can't solo these, and if you're interested in the armor that comes from collecting them all, you will need a solid group and lots of time. With plenty of time and plenty of characters at their disposal, they dominate this market and have, in my opinion, set unrealistic prices (20-30k per tooth). Since most people are NPCing gear over level 37 to make money, I find myself in a position where I almost HAVE to buy their shit if I want armor upgrades since my Legion is lacking consistently present tanks and clerics to just get the things myself. And while I hate to bring class bias into this, a Gladiator is rarely the first class people seek or wish to join for PUG farming even though I've toughed out the tank role from time to time.

NCSoft thinks when they put GameGuard back it will block them, that's why they aren't doing anything.

NMs- I have seen RMT camped specifically at many named NMs that have nice drops.
Gathering- You aren't looking in the right places because they definitely do it.

What use is it making a thread to complain about this, honestly there is nothing we can do that will affect what is happening already. I don't understand why people let the bots get to them so much, as I have no problem with them. Just ignore them and go on your way.

Can't really say they've directly bothered me, either. The inconvenience of their presence is just a side effect of the general economy being shit right now and people being more desperate to get cash than getting other people geared at reasonable prices.

The economy is going to be shit no matter what happens because this game just launched. Everything is going to be flooded from everyone leveling their extract aether/vitality, along with leveling their crafts and higher level things are going to be crazy expensive because there isn't enough of them in existence for all of the people playing.

Everyone says this, but did they do as much in L2 as they have in Aion so far? I'm not being sarcastic at all, I'm asking cuz I never played it. I played FFXI and as most of us know, getting anything fixed in that game took YEARS, minimum. NC seems to be trying so far, as every patch fixes something, and we're only a few weeks in.

I don't know how badly you all have it on Elyos side but here in Asmo hoards of them kill mobs that people need to finish quests. It gets very annoying fast, but yeah making a thread on countless forums about this isn't really going to do anything but you can always try, nothing wrong with that.

I've heard the Asmo side is absolutely terrible. Some asmos on our server post on the realm forums with locations of large groups of botters to get us to kill them lol

The only place I have seen them actually killing mobs I needed was at drake habitat a week ago, and that was annoying as hell. I couldn't image how much I would ragequit if that happened everywhere I went. I probably wouldn't mind it so much if I hadn't dealt with the RMT retard fest with ffxi for years and years (and years). So call me a bit biased but I can understand the OP's feelings a bit.

That being said, I think it's going to be an annoyance for a while and nothing more. Like someone mentioned, the economy's nothing to cry about atm. With or without RMT it's MMO nature to have price gouging and undercutting during openings/expansions, hell even normally this happens. It's not like we're forced to live off crafts or gathering either, I pull in 60-80K an hour off greys alone in the abyss which is more than enough to afford skills/equipment.

Compared to FFXI making money here is a cakewalk.
