Apple is all set to raise the curtains off its latest contribution to the gizmo genre tomorrow. Though Apple hasn’t officially described about the product’s name and features, it’s being rumored that the product will be named Apple tablet and it would be something larger than a smart phone and smaller than a laptop thus bridging the limitation gap between the two devices.
Rumors also state that the mystery product until tomorrow will feature a 10 inch touch screen device which can store videos, books, music and even news. PC world, Technologizer and Gimozo will cover Apple’s launch event live from Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco.
So far Apple has released a single quotation which says the product is “our latest creation.” Nothing apart from that is known about the product. I m not buying the “Tablet” thingy because I learnt my lesson last time when I believed Apple was actually releasing the rumored “iwalk.”

I think something between a cell phone and a laptop would be too bulky to carry around or too small to be practical in a computing situation.

There was also a rumor that they would announce iPhones for verizon, although that'll likely be saved till next quarter or so, unfortunately

Co-worker told me he saw something on the news mentioning the iPhone not being AT&T exclusive anymore. He said T-Mobile would have it, not sure about Verizon since I didn't watch it........been looking around for announcements for it since I wouldn't mind one with T-Mobile. (It's upgrade time too so it all works out!) :D

Verizon's iPhone 2010 please! Gonna be hawking this thread and Engadget all day at work for the news. I'm also in that crowd that just doesn't get Tablet PCs rave.

If it is not groundbreaking, I do not see the point of carrying an extra gadget...
My bag is already heavy enough as it is with iPhone, Blackberry, and laptop.
Unless it can replace all 3 plus do the laundry and take out the trash, then I might consider.

So seems like a more at home user friendly Ipod. I guess it's nice, but it's not really a computer if it has the native Iphone/pod restrictions. I wouldn't call it a revolutionary (like they were claiming) device like they were claiming, they are just taking / milking the existing IP into something different, yet the same

He's trying to sell it as the perfect middle ground between a laptop and a smartphone and I just don't see the selling point. The size negates the benefits of a smartphone's portability. Perhaps it could be the future of laptops. I could see that angle maybe, but that's not what he's trying to sell it doesn't seem. However, unless it one day has the power to usurp most laptops I don't see what purpose it serves other than to fill Apple's pockets and hype up the fanboys. At least the latter they have accomplished very well.
