Local Area Connection: Packets rec'd in millions fast.

Okay, I think the title is self explanitory, but I have a bit of a concern here.

Within a minute of starting up my PC, my packets sent/rec'd are extremely high. Example, I started up about 5 minutes ago sent is :340k+ and rec is 2.5 million+ within a day they are in the billions, which is bizarre. From what I've looked up online, it can mean viruses, but from what I can tell, I am completely clean. I'm running a full system scan now, and it should finish in a little bit, but does anyone else know what is causing this? I don't have any torrents up, nor am I doing anything too data heavy on the internet.

I don't think I would be too alarmed if you actually using it and not just letting it sit for a day to get billions. I started mine 7 mins ago and have 470k/1.4m sent/received. Do you have stuff that starts with windows? Or maybe IM programs? It could very well be the startup numbers are just from windows/apps checking with homebase for updates and such. If you really want to get to the innards you can use some software that monitors your network traffic, but you're going to get A LOT of extra crap too.

I last reset my wireless adapter on my laptop at school about 12 hours ago, I've since then used the laptop a total of maybe two hours actively with about 4 hours of innactivity when I got home. In this time all I was doing was IMing and browsing the web and got to 1M/400k

Just to give you an idea

If you're really worried about it use Process Explorer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx to monitor your in/out by process
