    Forced to upgrade Firefox

and I can't stand it for more than 5 seconds. I tried googling to find a plugin to have to old tab system but I can't find anything. Is there an option/plugin anywhere to have the old tabbing system? The one with just a single X on the right side instead of each tab having its own? I hate upgrading because they always take out good features and replace it with crap.

If it's what I'm thinking, you can do this with an extension called Tab Mix Plus. If you want to add a "close tab" button to the right of your tab bar, from the tab mix plus options, first go into the "Display" panel, click the "Tab" tab and un-check "Close tab button" on "Show on Tab." Then in the "Tab Bar" tab, you'd click "Close tab button" in the "Show on tab bar" section" and that's all.

Sorry if that's kind of confusing what with the tab spam lol. You can do tons with this extension and this is just a small example of what it's capable of.

type about:config in the browser bar, hit ok or whatever it says

find browser.tabs.closeButtons (type tab in the filter bar to quickly get there), double click it, and change the value from 1 to 0. is this what you mean?

Oh yeah that setting did it.

I have another minor question now too. Apparently when I go to a link and click on "open in new tab" it doesn't make it appear as a newest right-most window, but rather next to current window. Any way to make new windows always on the right? D: New blank tabs are working fine, but if I do open in new tab its just weird.

i'm not positive that's the same exact thing that pissed me off with the new version, but browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent toggled to false (double clicking it will toggle) fixed what i didn't like, which might be what you want too.

The contextual tab opening feature isn't a bad one, it's a great one.

If I've got 5 different websites open and I open-link-in-new-tab something off one of those websites that's related, I'd much rather have the related information sitting together than being all spaced out.

I'm the type that likes complete control over everything. If I need things grouped then I can do it myself. But 9/10 if I open a new tab I won't keep it open forever and will close it soon after; and I want to find it in the same spot every time.

Forced me to upgrade last week. It broke my RedShift theme and pissed me right off.

Just noticed when I closed windows it doesn't take me to next window (right to left).

Also any way to disable spell check? When I uncheck it it's only for that window and comes back on next thing.

i'm not sure about the closing/right-to-left thing, mine acts that way and i really haven't changed many options on this computer, i don't think i've changed any except that new tab one actually.

for the spellcheck, doing this: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb...spell_checking
    doesn't turn it off permanently?

if not, changing layout.spellcheckDefault to 0 in that earlier screen might help, but that's a guess

I like this paired with colorfultab's grouping/coloring by domain feature, helps a ton for organization

I hated the new tab sorting for this exact reason. Most of the time when I open a new tab it is because an article or post has a link and I want to check that link after I'm done reading the rest of the article. It's easy when temporary tabs are always on the far right.

Thanks for the fix, much better now.

i'm getting used to the new tab system, the only thing that pisses me off about firefox is "send image." if there was a way to take that off, it would be heavenly.

While we're on these subjects, it used to be in Firefox that if you closed your last tab it would go to a blank tab, now it just closes Firefox entirely. Anyone know how to restore that functionality?

I only know how to do this in Tab Mix Plus, not sure about any specific about:config entry. If you're interested, it's located in Events > Tab Closing under "Do not close window when closing last tab"
