    Gyms worth it or not?

Ok, since i am now in my own appartment and summer is coming I figured it is time to get some exercise. But before I ask more, time to give some useful details about me.

    24 year old man
5feet10 tall about 150lbs weight so i am not fat but i do have a little belly.
I havn't done real exercise for like 5 years
I do not own weights, a bike or anything that can help me.

So what i wanna do is 1) Get healthier including Cardio (when i run i run like max 1KM then i am tired).

    2) Musculation (for a male I am really weak in the arms and i wanna change that). (also i need to musculate every part of my body from the smallest toe to the largest Hair.)

Usually Gyms in QC are around 500$/year.

So to get better Cardio and musculation is a Gym good or a waste of money?

Also if it's a waste of money what to do you recommend for my 2 problems?

    Thanks

Edit : Please excuse my spelling

Will you actually go to the Gym often? If so it's worth it, most people get a membership and don't go, thus making it not worth it. It's up to you, not the price.

You could always just run around outside before investing in a gym, you might not even like it. I'd run frequently around my neighborhood listening to music and it was nice to get outside once in awhile.

I'm not sure what a KM is, is that the length of a hockey rink?

No, but seriously pipsqueek, pushups pushups pushups. There are a LOT of good calisthenic exercises you can do in your own home using your own body's weight as natural resistance. The internet can demonstrate a lot of these to you. Start with what you can handle and slowly increase over time (increase your rep load once a week tops, this isn't a montage, you can't go from a beginner to a pro). As for cardio, just go for a walk/jog/swim a few times a week. You can also reduce your need for cardio (especially in terms of fat burning although I'm not sure what fat you could possibly have) by never taking escalators/elevators and always hiking the stairs, little things like that.

IMO skip the gym, your not going to get a good workout there unless you do some research on your own and even after that I find it a hassle to drive there, pay a fee to be apart of it, then have to deal with a crowd or dirty/broken machines.

I think this might be good but I haven't tried it.

It seems like a better answer then a bowflex because of the space it saves attaching to a door.

Amazon reviews say its good for anyone who isn't an experienced gym junkie...

I am trying to remember where I heard it / read it, but gym should be for those people who are bored of the work outs at home, or want to push themselves further.

your health is always worth spending money on, if you feel like paying for a gym membership is the incentive that you need to stop being a lazy ass then go for it

Listen to this and fuck the gym. It's intense for beginners and really puts you in your place but it's fantastic.

Always skeptical about these types of things, so many "IN JUST THREE EASY PAYMENTS OF XX.XX YOU'LL BE RIPPED!" that always seem to be total bullshit.

Have you used this yourself and actually had it work?

I've had 2 friends use it, and it does, another just kinda halfasses it, but you definitely feel burnt and like you were at the gym the day after, just have to stick with it to get the results. people got no dedication. granted, you may want to run a bit every day and do a few pushups for a week before you start it... it is rigerous

Yes i use it but i'm only at say 30% of the pace of the program because it's seriously tough. I also have friends that completed the 90 days and are completely ripped. It's not a gimmick, it's not easy, but once you start you'll be addicted.

I've always been into running so I have great stanima, just not much muscles aside from my legs. I'm 6'0 and 175 pounds, would love to gain some muscle weight and get rid of my stomach. I'll have to give this thing a try. Does it come with like a DVD or something or is it just the equipment and a guide of workouts? I guess I could just google it but oh well I already wrote all this out.

Gym membership's only worth it if you're going to use it - if you're not sure you will make sure you pick one without some minimum term contract that you'll get stuck in.
