Celestial Nights: A Love to Transcend Time (06/23/2010)

    Ah, summer in Vana'diel!

A season for sweltering days, starry nights, and the annual moogle-staged production of a timeless tale of star-crossed lovers that without the assistance of altruistic adventurers like you is doomed to end in disaster and disarray.

Read on to see how you can play your part in the festivities!

*Celestial Nights will twinkle into view at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) on Tuesday, June 29 and fade with dawn's light on Tuesday, July 13 at the same hour.
As any adventurer worth his or her Silver Sea salt knows, the tradition known as Celestial Nights has its roots in the tragic tale of Prince Yahiko and Princess Amdina.

'Tis a tale from a bygone era—one that tells of a strapping royal scion and a pulchritudinous princess who chanced upon each other on opposite banks of the river that divided their two kingdoms, and had the terrible misfortune of falling in love. For this was an age of war and strife, and these two neighboring nations were locked in a bitter, bloody struggle every ilm the equal of the Crystal War.

The besmitten couple exerted every effort to convince their parents to put aside their differences and make peace between their nations, but this was no faerie tale, and it would not end happily ever after. The war raged on, and both prince and princess were caught in its bloody midst, falling to enemy hands without ever having the chance to share so much as a moment's embrace.

The tale struck a chord with the people of the realm, who, over time, came to pay tribute to the ill-fated lovers with a celebration of the stars, that the souls of the prince and princess might be joined at long last in the heavens above.

Likewise, it struck a chord among the profit-minded moogles of the MHMU, who figured that an annual dramatic rendition of the timeless tale might attract a wide audience and bring ample amounts of gil into their coffers.

Will this heavenly love story end in triumph or tragedy? Will our ambitious moogle friends be rolling in dough, or drowning in debt?

The fate of the universe—or one very small part of it, at least—is in your hands!

That is a terribly done picture. What is up with the dude's head? It's way out of proportion to the rest of the drawing.

Pulchritudinous? I've never seen that word before. The etymology on dictionary.com isn't very satisfying either. Did the editor visit the Tycho thesaurus for this article or something?

Something about that illustration is off, but it's not the proportions... the subject matter just seems really weird for that story.

Although, I will actually participate this year if it nets me one of those awesome glowy windurst lanterns...

This particular article isn't half as bad as alot of them are. Sometimes they use so many outlandish words that I have trouble falling what the fuck is going on and usually lose interest a paragraph or two into them.
