How much to tip for haircuts?

So basically since I was a kid, Ive been going to the same babershop run by two brothers. My dad always gives a $1 tip and so I learned to do the same.

Lately however, I have changed venues and now go to a place called Sports Clips, I guess its sorta like a Fantastic Sams. Anyway, the girls there do a good job cutting my hair, but the first time I went I instantly thought a $1 tip was too cheap, so I gave $2 (lol, bit upgrade, I know).

Not sure why, maybe it was the fact that most of them are cute and they actually cut my hair how I wanted it. Figure that the haircut alone is $16, what would you normally tip if you were satasfied with your haircut?

    I'd just give them an even $20 if it's a $16 haircut.

    $4

Only because I hate carrying around fucking singles, and the haircut costs me $16. $2 is just fine to tip for just a men's haircut though.

I tip $8-12 but the girl who cuts my hair does a super-good job and is extremely hot, would normally only give like $6 if I wasn't getting cans pressed in my face during the shampoo part.

    Place I go is 9.99 for a men's haircut, usually tip 5 and get 5 back from a $20.

Well if the haircut came with a set of nice tits in my face I would more than likely adjust accordingly as well.

My hair has been cut by the same old italian barbershop since I was 6 years old (20+ years and counting).

When in doubt do 15%. For stuff like haircuts i usually just give a $20 and tell them to keep the change.

It seems really inappropriate to give a tip for an haircut. Never saw anyone doing this, and I never though anyone would do this.

On a side note, 16$ seems extremely cheap for an haircut. Men's haircuts average about 20€ around here. I think you should advice them to raise their prices in order to increase the recognition of their work and to give up on tips.

Haircuts around here are $13, so I usually tip $3.

Usually tip around $5-15 depending on if the stylist is good, nice, etc and how much the haircut actually cost. Last time I went to get my hair cut, it was around $50 (girl haircuts can be expensive...) and then I gave the girl a $15 tip because I thought she was REALLY cute and she did a good job on my hair, too. Although the latter should be the main reason for the amount I tipped, but my feelings got in the way.

$4-5 bucks for a men's haircut as long as you like the way it looks, then $1-2 for the person who washes your hair if it's not the same person as the stylist. If you're getting colored (gay) or your haircut takes longer than an hour you should probably tip more. Women with long hair can take up to 2-3 hours to cut so I'm assuming they'd tip significantly more (but they also pay more, so the percentage is probably about the same).

As a general rule you don't tip your hairstylist/barber if they're also the owner of the salon, btw.
