I'm currently in the market for a new headset to use for online games, problem is most stores around me only sell crap or every pricey ones. So I'm curious if anyone has a headset they use they'd recommend or a site with a lot of options.

someone in the mw2 thread said they bought a pair of turtle beach px21's and that they were badass, so I went and got a pair too. It's a usb headset, i think i got it for like $79 at gamestop, but i'd have to double check to be sure. Things are bad ass though, love 'em.
edit: amazon has em listed for 66 right now, idk what kind of price you're looking for though
Tritons or TB's.
The 360 TB's were readily available, took me about 4 months for one of the 5 local Gamestops to carry the ps3 version.
I use these for both PC and PS3 games and I fucking love them, probably a little more than you're willing to spend on a headset though. It depends on your budget.

Depends on your budget... Plantronics Gamecom are generally cheap and good if you're looking for something $30-$40, I use the Steelseries 7H if I feel like spending more
@Kazen: That's looks similar to my headphones before that rubber stuff around the ears tore off, how much?
For price range, maybe around 50-80 dollars?
You can probably get them for about $150-200
Ouch, kind of pricey.
I have been looking at these on amazon since they're a little under 50 dollars and have a 4/5 rating on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Force-Amplifie...7180235&sr=1-1 so anyone have any experience with these? They seem pretty good for the price range.
Can get the Logitech G-35's for 75$ atm on Amazon or Newegg with a rebate, rebate ends this weekend...
Slightly hijacking this thread but does anyone have any recommendations for a good wireless headset? I have a decent wired HP headset I got a Office Depot a few years back but it's developing a short probably due to all the times I've got the cable tangled up in my chair.
I have a fairly large head and would like something with good battery life. Looking to spend between $100 and $200 but might consider going a bit higher.
Good headphones + cheap desktop stick mic, if possible. Looking for only full headsets restricts your options pretty badly.

I've been using those for the past few years. I had one pair wear out, so I bought another.
Within those specifications... http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wirel.../dp/B003VANOFY
But if you're going in the 200+ range I'd rather get a good set of headphones and a stand-alone mic.
@OP~ Does it need to be USB? If not:
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD5.../dp/B0001FTVDQ
Add the zalman mic http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Microph...d_bxgy_e_img_b
can combo for less than 130$ usually and on the right days. Get these, you will not be disappoint.
After looking at the specs and talking it out with someone I bought the ones I linked to. USB is a tad of an issue since my headphone port only has 2 USB ports on it, which are occupied by my bluetooth device (thing is very small and worried of losing it) and my PS2 controller.
Yes, you can get adapters online that work great, sad thing is this only cost me 10 dollars and it works a hell of a lot better than most gamepads I've tried.
This is the one I picked up from Amazon, just had to connect it to my controller then PC and I was good to go: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0027B475O
Anyway, I got my headset today, but I got a problem.
After getting my X11's from Turtle Beach (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003A7HHKG/) the Mic seems to be way too damn sensitive or something. I went into my recording device properties and had to set the Mic at 1% with the boost at 0.0 however if I do something somewhat loud (Coughing) I can hear an echo. Has anyone else had issues with the mic being too sensitive? If you did what did you do to fix it?
EDIT:
Okay this seems to be an issue with Steam and their games or something. Since when I record my voice in Audacity it comes out crystal clear, no echo or anything.
EDIT: Okay, seems to be an issue just testing my voice, did voice chat and the receiver said he didn't hear an echo.
Double hijacking this thread, I've been looking for a pair of universal wireless headphones for my PS3, Mac/pc, and Xbox360... I've either found wireless for xbox/PS3 with no PC/mac support (Logitech f540), or WIRED (turtle beach/tritton) that supports everything. Anyone know of a wireless pair thats actually universal for all? I'd like one pair of wireless headphones that supports everything. Price isn't a concern. Any response is appreciated, thanks! Not even sure if they exist or if its possible tbh....
Use this:
http://www.astrogaming.com/products/...111/MixAmp-58/
Lets you plug any existing headset into it, and then you've got a wireless-ish setup. Works with PC PS3 and 360 as far as I know.
The only downside is it's not truely wireless as you still plug your wired headsets into the mixamp but I hear the mixamp (at least the wired one) is pretty amazing.
edit:
Quick research...

Turns out you gotta have optical/toslink from PC to get this to be pc compatable, and chat via wireless will require one of these

Maybe there's some $0.99 knockoff cable that does the same thing, either way it's still pretty expensive but gets the job done
