ok, so heres the deal, first off heres what im working with
AMD Athlon BE-2400 (not black edition) 2.3ghz dual core
Thermalright 120xp heatsink with artic silver 5
Asus M3N-HT Deluxe
OCZ Titanium XMP 4096MB PC9200 DDR2 1150MHz 2x2gb
9800GTX+ SLI
Cooler Master 750w power supply
74gb raptor
500gb seagate
320gb western digital
Win7 64 home premium
all drivers updated
bios updated
alright, now that thats all out of the way, im not new to overclocking, but this system is sucking my will to live when it comes to bumping up performance
as for speeds atm, cpu is stock at 2.3ghz but voltage is supposed to be 1.25v, im running at 2.5, i could prolly go a little lower, but temps are fine and im FULLY stable here, voltage "can" go up to 1.5v without harming on air, the ram is running at 800mhz, well underclocked from stock for it
the problem i have is first off, my main overclocking experience comes from the old athlon xp 1800 which was an overclocking beast for its time, but overclocking the 64bit cpus is very different, ive been reading forum threads all over the web on how to overclock and i do realize that all hardware is different so im not going into this expecting to hit some magical number, but the problem is, if i bump ANYTHING up at all, i start getting crashes, i just cant believe that my hardware (which was handpicked for overclocking, higher end stuff) cant move at all, especially considering ive basically completely eliminated the memory issue, ive got almost 400mhz headroom here
and yes, i know its a little outdated hardware, just cant afford to do any upgrades atm, but will be getting either a phenom2 955 black edition or one of the newer 6 core cpus, i just want to eek out as much performance as i can out of this while i can :/
thanks for any help in advance
