I'll keep it quick.
Bro bought a Jabra headset, works fine and dandy on his Vista-laptop. Too bad for him that his gaming rig has XP SP3 installed which apparently has problems with BT devices being that Microsoft's own BT stack lack a service for audio, so he can't use his headset for chatting/receiving audio even when it's paired properly.
I tried everything I can think of. I disabled the Microsoft drivers and used the one for the fucking tiny BT dongle he purchased (which works ok otherwise, it detected both our BT headsets fine), but still no luck, and the headset shows nothing under its services tab when it's connected.
Google isn't showing much help either since a lot of it seems headset-specific and forcefully installing another driver on top of an existing one.
[EDIT] Figured it out. Had to go to Broadcom's site (make of the chip used in the device) and use their software, which is miles and beyond better than the built-in BT crap for XP that doesn't even give you a status update on devices currently connected.
